Question for VHlinks diehards...

Ok,

I realize that I have only posted barely enough to get me into the double digits and that that fact alone will put me on many linker's shit list, but here goes...

I've really seen an upturn lately in the Van Halen hating going on around here. Understandable as we all want Mikey to take his rightful place. I've seen many posts vehemently go after Ed like he is the fuckin' anti-Christ and can do no right. Many linkers have flat out stated that they will not go to see VH on tour this year with Dave. Fine. I got no qualms with that, even though I will be there.

My question is this:

Given the scene, (VH on tour with Dave, induction in to RRHOF, more "news" than we have had in years, and now, statements that many of you are not going to the show), why the fuck do you continue to post here? Is it because you have an emotional attachment to VHlinks? Because if I hated VH like I've seen around here lately, I sure as hell wouldn't be wasting my time reading and posting on VHlinks. This is an honest-to-god question. What keeps you here? I understand the cameraderie, friendships can be made, fine and dandy. But is there another reason? Please explain...

I will say this and it's not arrogance, I truly believe this for EVERY web site where an owner is active in the participation. A site takes on the face of its owner. And right now my feeling about the band isn't great, and obviously that probably facillitates down to everyone in some capacity. If the boss is in a bad mood, it tends to put you in one as well...I understand that.

In the past, I've tried to not allow myself to get to up or down over this stuff, but I guess every man has his breaking point. And I'm just too disgusted with this band right now to keep a positive tone in my posts.

With that said, I am trying to use my love for the music to keep me focused in trying to at least to do positive things for the site (the Radio stuff, I have a couple giveaways from the VH Store to do), even if I can't be positive about what the band themselves is doing.

I would have to agree with Brett. Whether it is intended or not folks go the way of "the leader."

I do understand some of the negativity, but I'm still going. As much as I like MA he never was VH to me, VH was DLR and EVH.

I really enjoy the verbal jabbing. It's somewhat entertaining.
And hell, I just ponied up for a 2-year premium membership. Can't leave now. By the way, I don't even know what the premium membership entitles me too, maybe I should read up on it?

This is my favorite band ever. What do i want? The bullshit to end. Eddie needs to sober the fuck up, take whatever meds he may need to get his thought process right. They need Mikey in this band again and they need to appreciate their fans. When that happens, I will be right there buying a ticket.

What we got is a never sober semi-insane egomaniac who is taking advantage of the fans by jacking the cost of every product they put out. Someone who doesn't see the value in those around him or himself. Who time and again compromises his own integrity.

This isn't about the music or the fans. It's about filling the Van Halen coffers. Period. I guess I keep waiting around here for some sign things are getting back on track.

Well this site has evolved into more of community of different type of fans; 1. Fans who hate VH but used to like them (Original Sheep). 2. Fans who liked VH, then hated them and now like them again (Rothtards) 3. Fans who always liked VH regardless of the soap opera, and want to discuss VH in a positive way with other VH fans, support the band and come here to feel uplifted by sharing the excitment of the reunion with other fans (Ed Sympathizers).

Fans 1 and 2 have always a had a strong dislike with each other. Fans 1 and 3 for the most part seemed to get along with each other. Fans 2 and 3 did not get a long as well as fans 1 and 3. But now Fans 2 and 3 are much closer and 1 and 3 seem to having lots of problems with each other.

We all come here to read the news and share whats going on with our favorite band regardless of how we have felt in the past or feel today about them. Take it for what it is worth, I have under 10 posts!!!

in the end, we all really love vh (the band) and this is a great place to both celebrate the band and vent about it at the same time... in a perfect world, dave never leaves after 1984, vh continued to put albums regularly through present day, and the band would be a touring juggernaut along the lines of bon jovi, springsteen, u2... you name it...

in a semi-perfect world, you have all that and sammy included in the mix because of dave's departure in '84...

in our real world, we have two lead singers who both have been kicked over a couple of times, a third singer nearly everyone panned, and a dysfunctional band leader who thinks the popularity of the band revolves around only him... and now we have a teeny-bopper who is the son of said-leader trying to pass off as one of the "core" members of the band...

to paraphrase 'unchained': "ed, give me a break"
