Default Boss PS5 (Pitch Shifter) As Detuner?

Anyone using it to simulate the Eventide's detune effect? Do you run it through the effects loop or straight in the front of the amp (similar to a chorus pedal)? Do you have to have a seperate cabinet for it to sound right (ie, you can't just use it with a combo amp)? What settings do you have the knobs on?

The reason I ask is I'm checking this out at a local store and not really hearing what I want, I guess.

    Thank
    Chris

I have read on another board that you could simulate the eddie's eventide sound (Poundcake, RHRN) by adding a -10 cent detune and a 350ms delay to the left channel and a +10 cent detune (450ms delay) to the right. Since the PS5 doesn't support delay times greater than 93ms (and only one delay setting for the whole unit) and stereo mode is limited to one channel outputting 100% wet and the other wet/dry depending on the balance setting of the PS5, you won't capture the sound 100%. The lack of delay is limiting the wide stereo effect.
The manual recommends putting the device right after the guitar and connecting the output to an amp.

What is the sound missing in your opinion when trying the PS5?

Just didn't sound like anything close to 'the' sound. Probably because it was just one side (not stereo)? I guess I'm wondering if that would be some of the problem. Maybe to use this pedal you really need a seperate cab for 'the' sound.

    Thanks
    Chris
