hour long special on Dave and Sam on VH1!

I haven't posted in a while cause I was pretty sick all this week and I've been going to sleep at like 7 every night but Homecoming was tonight and I get home to see that show on! WOW is this VH1 acknowledging the fact that Van Halen exists. Not only that they exist but doing a hour long special on them. Cool shit. I can't belive this doesn't already have a thread but I couldn't find it.

sorry if I missed it but it is kinda worth watching. Exciting seeing em on TV.

Something I noticed and I'm sure most everyone else did was that didn't you find it strange to have Mike sitting next to Sammy while he was being interviewed by VH1 about life after Van Halen?
I realize they are still good friends but I thought Mike would maybe have felt a little uncomfortable.
After finally having an opportunity to watch at least part of it, (the last 20 minutes). I got the impression that this could have very well been a pre-reunion publicity vehicle for a potential Sam AND Dave return.
I felt like the backstage namecalling between Sam & Dave had the WWF all over it. Seemed a bit too staged.
This confuses me even more about the future of VH.

I really believed and still do that Sammy will be back rather soon, but after watching this show I was left with some "reasonable doubt" about if it will be Sammy alone returning.
I would love to see a co-singer tour with VH, but I don't know if they could actually pull it off.

I doubt that Eddie & Alex could be on a stage for 3 hours a night playing at this stage.

1 1/2 with Sammy and 1 1/2 with Dave. Alternating who opens and closes each night. Much like this summer's tour.

Yeah, I thought Mike looked kind of uncomfortable too, like he had to crap or something, and he was smiling sort of weird too, it seemed forced. But yeah, the timing of releasing this show is kind of bizarre, AFTER the tour?

Way to go after publicity and spark interest after it's over. I guess it could be what you say about the reunion, but I'm not holding my breath for any thing any more. I've passed out to many times waiting for this band to do something. Oh well, At least they weren't as harsh as they could have been to David Lee Roth and his whole Vegas thing and his drug bust. But I'm pissed I only saw the last 35 minutes because I love seeing really old Van Halen footage from pre 82-83. I think it comes on again today at two or three (thank god for VH-1 and there endless amounts of re-runs), I'll have to try and catch it from start to finish.

From how I understood it, Dave and Sam were originally supposed to tour some stadium shows with the Borthers (A la Pink Floyd The Wall), but it was the brothers who nixed the idea. Came from a promoter in Las Vegas... [img]graemlins/bounce.gif[/img] As for after the fact promos, it just typical marketing, and I am thinking that Sam and Dave don't truly dislike each other as much as they say. Each one is portraying his "super ego" to the crowd... Just my two cents

This is the best case scenario for Sammy.
Forget him being back as the only singer.
Mr Hagar knows the only way he has a chance
is if its a Dave/Sam Deal. And, this would have
to mean that the brothers have totally changed
the way they feel about Sammy. They believe
he cheated/lied to them. Yes, they still feel
this way and for good reason. Dave never lied
or did any deals behind their backs.

Sam is trying to talk up the Sam/Dave reunion
with Van Halen concept as he knows it is his only
chance.

You could be right about Sam believing its his best route, David, but if I'm Eddie and I see Dave at the end of the show calling him Eddie Van Heineken and blowing him a kiss and saying call me , you have my number, there is no way I would make that call, but stranger things have happened. IMO that was disrespectful on Dave's part.

To follow up, Dave could have said in a decent way, "You know what, I would love to work with Eddie again" and looked right in the camera and said, "Call me Ed, Better yet, I'm calling you" Just my opinion....

I just watched the special for the first time last night and I have truly decided that neither one of those two is ever coming back to VH. Dave is nuts like he has always been and Sammy has to much anger swelled up in him. I highly doubt that The Lying Dutchmen would put up with either one of them on a tour. I mean with Sambo crying about the size of his dressing room and Dave's constant "I'm the shit" shtick. Come on! Eddie, it's time for that solo album man. But please release the last songs that you did with Roth in 2000. That can help me with my closure. Then I hope Dave and the DLR Band can make the most of what they have and put out some new material. Finally, is it just me or did Michael Anthony just look like a puppet sitting there?

What's up SHOCK? How in the hell are you? The special was pretty cool to watch being how that's all that's going on in the VH world. But both Sam and Dave need to move on. The one thing that was sad was Michael Anthony just sitting there in the void. I mean, he showed zero emotion. It has been stated that even he doesn't talk to the brothers anymore, or at least since the beginning of 2002.

what cause eddie is a boozer ? its the truth and dave called it as it was. its not a pretty thing and if ed doesnt like being called a boozer he should get off the booze. plus ed and al have done thier fair share of mud slinging. no ones in angel in this mess!

I have to agree Redhalen, BOTH of those guys were out of line with some of their comments towards each other. They should be thanking one another, not slamming each other. I mean it was a successful tour.
