How will VH disguise Michael Anthony's absence?
How is Van Halen going to disguise Mike's absence? What I mean is like in sports when teams have to adopt another "gameplan" depending upon who their playing or who on their team is injured.
Is Teen Wolf just going to step in and play Anthony's part in the band or are vocals going to be piped in?
No way Wolfie's voice is as good as Mike's. I have a corn on my foot older than Wolfie.

I think everyone gets emotional about the reunion tour (and rightfully so); however, I think that this thread really hits on the most important piece of the tour.
I've seen lots of video boots from the DLR era and Mikey does alot of singing, I'd say more than just backup, he really helps Dave out alot even with lead somethimes. So I think that MA's vocals will really be missed. I wouldn't be surprised if they did "pipe" in background vocals to help out.
Wouldn't it be sad if they actually "piped" in MA's backing vocals for the live show.

Mike and Ed used to sing more than Dave near the end. Shit watch the US Festival stuff, Mike is carrying the songs vocally a lot times. Yes I think Dave will be more comitted to singing this time, but still.

Dave will be singing a lot more than he did in '83 and '84, but I'm still wondering if Eddie can even sing his parts anymore? Even if Wolfie is pretty good with Anthony's parts, the harmonies will sound like shit with Eddie's raspy screaming. Listen to BOBW in '04...EEK!

The vocals just won't be good, that's the end of it.

I hope that Dave does a great job live on this tour. If Ed plays like he did on the 04' tour DLR better kick ass to save the show.
On the 04' tour I thought AL, Mike and Sam all sounded awesome, but because of Ed's playing I walked away dissappointed.
If Dave and Ed both put up a half assed performance, not to mention a new bass player, the reviews from fans and the media alike could be brutal.

It's going to be embarrassing.
Sammy did the impossible. He made Van Halen better. Deal with it.

That's probably true and all the ways around it would probably be artificial anyway.
For me, Ed is the key. I want to hear him play songs I've never heard him play before. If he does that and does it well, I'll have some level of satisfaction. If he plays like crap, it won't matter to me if the Three Tenors are on vocals.
When Sammy used to peform some of the CVH songs, that dodn't sound like CVH either. It wasn't the background vocals that sounded different but the lead vocals themselves. Yet, I accepted and enjoyed hearing those songs peformed because of Mike, Al, and mostly Ed. Unfortunately, the few songs that they constantly repeated grew stale.
Still, there's nothing like hearing Ed rip into one of the classics when he's playing well, even Gary Cherone's presence can't diminish it.
