Default What do we know about Wolfgang?

Have anybody seen this kid on a picture or anything the last 2 years?
Have anybody hear him play bass or anything?

What do we know about the kid?

..and please spare the bold comments about the kid. It's his father who is the one to blame if anybody. So keep this thread mature please.

    Thank you

Edward played a couple of cds which I thought were from 1978 (it was from two days ago) of Van Halen rehearsing with Wolfgang Van Halen on bass. It was jaw-droppingly amazing. They played On Fire, I'm The One, Atomic Punk. I'm not listing the rest, but I will tell you the band sounded untouchable. On Jamie's Crying they did a long bass-lead jam on the intro - the band rocked. I don't like that word (too American) but the band rock - really rock. It was as exciting as the first time I saw them. They will come back and destroy the world. One of the tightest, freshest sounding groups ever. I want to go and play the first album as soon as I get home. Had a blast listening to them, it made me remember why I liked music in the first place. Having Edward's son on bass has rejuvenated them.

He has a 3 word name, so he fits better than the previous bass player who couldn't manage to get beyond a 2 word name after 30 years in the band. I think this is important, the last tour failed because the 3 word name faction and the 2 word name faction hated each other.

Damn! There goes my reply of, "Well...we know he's fat and will probably end up an alcoholic just like his dad."

So since you only want mature responses, I'll guess I'll have to keep that comment to myself.

Yeah, well it's a little hard to take the opinion of a hired photographer too seriously. How much credibility can you put into the comments of someone paid by Eddie to take pictures. It's not like he's gonna say they sound like shit and lose his gig.

Maybe the kid rocks, maybe not. Maybe the recording Ross Halfin heard wasn't actually Wolfie playing bass. We don't know and we won't until he hits the stage. And even then we might not truly know if it's Wolfie or if it's Memorex

In all fairness...regardless of how you feel about VH's current lineup....all the cruel comments towards Wolfie that i've seen on this board are purely pathetic. It shows a real lack of class in some people. The kid has done nothing to anyone...and his dad hasnt either. It's a rock band....they've given us years of music, good times, and some stellar performances. They owe us nothing. If you're unhapppy, dont go to the shows or spend the $$ on any potential future releases. But, to blast a teenager for something he has no control over is just lame. There's alot of jerk-offs around here. And to those who've taken the high road i applaud you.

Another observation i've had is that no matter what Wolfie will fail in the eyes of many around here. Even if he comes out and rips it up, some will say it's a recording, etc. Haflin gives his opinion of what he heard, and it's assumed that he was lying. I mean...lol....it's really stupid. The kid could come out and spin gold out of his bass strings and someone here will find a fault.

I do know something about being an overweight teenager, and it REALLY, REALLY SUCKS! IMHO you guys should really lay off the fat comments. It's bad enough the kid has to hear all the nasty shit bout his dad.

I never said he was lying, I'm just reminding people to keep in mind it's an employee of Edward making these comments. Come to your own conclusions. Maybe it was Wolf and he smokes, who knows. But as silly as you think it is to question Halfin's statements, I also think it's silly to think his opinion is the bible like some giddy kids around here.

Once the shows happen, we'll know if he's really playing or if it's backing tapes, there's no way around that especially with the quality of bootlegs these days.

As ridiculous as I think this tour is, I hope the kid does kick ass and prove everyone wrong,I really do...... because if he's not, Ed's move to make him bass player is gonna be devastating to the kid's self esteem and it will put Eddie in the padded room.

And as far as his appearance, I agree, the potshots at his weight or hair or whatever else people are obsessing on is silly and irrelevant to his playing.

All i really know about him is his birthday is 316 and Eddie is his father. I would love mikey in there but things happen. You really cant complain until you see it for yourself. James i hope you right dude. also that is one of the few positive replies about his subject. Right know cross you fingers and hope eveything goes well and the the tour will last.

Listen it not a matter of how good the kid can play. You are all missing the point. It's a matter of kicking out of the band a key member that thru out 30 years gave the band 110%, treated the fans with respect, projected fun and excitement on stage, was key factor of the band signature overall sound and image, and did more for the fans on the last ten years than Eddie himself.

It is wrong. Wolfie has not earned the right to be on stage with Van Halen. We do not have to accept it just because daddy wants to shove it down our throats.

I personally think Wolfgang is gonna be awesome. I'm gonna go with Eddie's comments on how the kid is "scary." He's never lied to us...hahaha. But, in all honesty, I do think we have to give him a fair shot. It isn't his fault his dad doesn't want Mike back. It's pretty sad that so many people here just assume he'll suck and won't even give him credit if he's good. I'm as pissed as anyone about Mike not being involved, but I'm not about to slag on Wolfgang unless he does/says something that deserves it. For now, I love the kid. He hasn't said anything negative to the public and he's inspiring Eddie to get out there.

    Thank you.

And BTW, Jiny didn't write that, he cut and pasted it from Ross Halfin's diary.
