We all SHOULD go, here is why...
Disclaimer: This thread is only for those of us that have supported Van Halen throughout the glory days, Dave's walk out in 1985, Sammy's joining in 1985 and departure in 1996, Gary's honorable mention, The 04 Disaster Tour and everything in between.
Did you stand by the band when Dave left them high and dry in '85?
Did you embraced Sammy joining just because they would carry on?
Did you enjoy what Gary brought to the band (especially the live set list)?
Did you spend your hard earned money to see Sammy when he returned in 2004?
Then there is no reason to bail on them now. Dave is back at the mic. Eddie seems genuinely excited. Yes Michael will not be involved, and that is a shame. But if you stood by them through all the other stuff...Why bail out now? I would love to have all four of the classic members up on stage this summer, but I am perfectly happy to have three-quarters of the original recipe as opposed to the alternative, which is none at all.
In a perfect world all of the die-hard fans would get we want. Dave. Edward. Alex. Mikey. (And for some us Sammy too). The only problem is that we don't live in a perfect world. Lighten up haters and enjoy the upcoming ride...None of us know when or how its going to end (and someday it will end for good). Life's too short to take Van Halen so seriously."Question is, not does love exist, but when she leaves, where she goes. I got a feeling she don't know either. Wait like the wind, watch where she blows..."

Sort of.
No.
No.
Yes.
Wait and see on what appears to have disaster written all over it on this one...
Ed's brief time back in the spotlight has only diminished my opinion of the band -
and I'm not talking about his performances per se, although those haven't knocked my
socks off either. I'm talking about being a fan since 78 and being fed up with the nonsense.
On the other hand, it could be a great excuse to go to Vegas or just easy enough to drive
the 20 minutes to the Staples Center if I can get in for 100 bucks.Last edited by mistere; 02.03.07 at 12:02 PM.

Lighten up haters
It's like there's this invisible forcefield that.. doesn't... allow me to... dissent!
I'm like the bogeyman in some horror movie... trying to kill a virginal teenage girl in her bed... and she just pulled the covers over her head!

Fuck Van Halen ! I don't care.......I'm an EVH fan.......No matter when, where, with whoever, ......I don't care!
He can come alone, with Dave, without Alex, with Sam, with Wolfie, with Billy Sheehan, or Billy Idol, or Billy Joel........I don't care!
He can call it whatever he wants, I don't care.
As long as he doesn't die, or sink back in that hole....and I'll be there !
I'll be there !
Fuckin' A, It's gonna rock balls !

You'll get both....regardless ! Ed won't be changing anyone's mind on this gig. People will hear and see what they want to, it's human nature. If they go in happy looking for a great show, they'll probably find one........If they go in looking to critique and criticize, I'm sure VH will provide plenty of fodder for that too !
There will NEVER be a fanbase consensus on anything anymore.......it's almost become political, with everyone choosing sides and venting along party lines.....general closed-mindedness and spite.
I guess a fanbase can only be as levelheaded as the band they follow....which explains alot, really !Lode's Facebook

Van Halen has only been 1/2 Van Halen their whole career, and now they are 3/4 Van Halen, and I don't care what anyone says but 3/4 is more than 1/2. That's why you should go.

I agree 100%. We can look at this as win win. We get Van Halen with DLR minus Mike. I'd love for Mike to be there but he aint. We get Mike and Sammy as the other half. We get Sammy and the Warbs, and Mike with Chicken Foot. It's all good... The time wasted on negativity blows my mind. It's a rock band that plays music.. Let's stop pissing on Ed, this is about the music, if ya wanna skip out on the music because you are caught up in the soap opera you need to get a life.

SOME VH LINKS CLASSICS
"Sammy is fat, Dave is bald, Mike is next in line to be the Pope, Eddie is a drunk, Wolfie is fat, Gary is gay, CVH is VH, Mike is VH, Sammy can outsing Dave on a tequilla hangover, Eddie is a meth head, How Many Say I is the worst VH song ever, Up for Breakfast is a close second, Dave was horrible at radio and everybody hates the assless chaps.
Ok I think that covers everything." Ziggysmalls
"I sense that some of our newer passengers may be nervous due to the sudden turbulence. Please be seated, this is simply a normal part of the periodic ride.
I didn't say we'll get to the destination, but until Alex comes out a says what a complete waste of carbon DLR is, we're still climbing, so strap yourselves in.
Those of you who have been on this ride before, the hottie in the mini will be around shortly with your drinks......." Red

No slam here, just making a point that your mind is more closed than almost anybody here at this site.
That's cool, you like what you like. And you will like this no matter if it's average, great, good, below average, or complete shit. So how is that any different from somebody who you claim won't like it no matter what?
I've got an extremely open mind. The most open-minded person I know. Almost everybody who knows me says the same thing.
I'll wait and make my own judgement on this thing, after hearing it. But I can certainly draw conclusions from the past, and use those conclusions for a pretty good educated guess as to where this is headed.SOME VH LINKS CLASSICS

The premise behind the initial post is faulty. In all of the other instances (which I supported), the band came out with NEW MUSIC. There is no new music that I know of.
IF there was new music, I would be behind this 1000%, crapping my pants and getting ready for the tour. Even THREE SONGS like last time would help.
Other than that, this may be a total waste.

I have been there through everything and I will be there for this. This change in the line up is disapointing and I would certainly rather have MA there, but it is still EVH AVH, and DLR, 3/4 of the orginal. I will give Wolfe a chance. You never know he might just blow our socks off. Then when Sammy goes out next year with Mikey I will be there too. I am after all a fan4ever... what ever version or part of VH is performing.
Aint life grand!
Reedy Creek was started because the property sprawled across 2 counties, neither of which remotely had the infrastructure or ability to come close to handling a destination resort and all that comes...
