My open letter to Janie the publicist

Hi guys, long time, no post! I've read a bunch of your posts, and it seems a majority have that certain pit in their stomachs about this reunion. I tried to put it in words in an email to Janie Liszewski, VH's new publicist <janie@highprofilemedia.com> -- here goes:

You don't know me, but I am compelled to write you upon hearing today's good news.
I want to let you know how great it is to have VH "Runnin' with The Devil" again, but how disappointing it is to have
Michael Anthony being left out of it. Mikey is 1/4 of the core -- without him, it's not the real reunion we've all been waiting so long for.
His amazing, energetic bass playing and signature background vocals are a huge part of the success of VH. "Could this be magic?"
Yes it could, but Mikey MUST be there. Who brings a pie to a party with a 1/4-sized chunk sliced out of it? No one.
When Ed says how excited he is to get back to the "core", he must know he is not being honest with the fans.
What could Michael have possibly done that was so bad that he should be denied this honor?
He's the only one to have shown us fans ANY courtesy for the last 11 years. Why has he been treated so shabbily the last few
years? Many of the fans, myself included, think this is amazingly rude and selfish of Ed & Al to do this to Mike. I saw VH 8 times in1998
with Gary Cherone, and bought the album and many souvenirs. I plan to only see them once this time (reluctantly), pissed that
Ed & Al are toying with us, again. Don't they know that that is what they are doing? I must say I'm kinda disappointed in Dave also.
Is he so desperate that he wouldn't stand up for the guy who backed him up so powerfully all those years ago? Did "Push Come to Shove", so now we're on "Mean Street"?
I'm sure Wolfie is a great kid, but he should be in his own band, opening for VH, with his dad as a guest, or guesting with
VH like last tour. He shouldn't be taking the place of the most beloved (by the fans) member of Van Halen over some minor
tiff between the guys. I'm sure he will try to win us over, but no matter how well he does, we will be left with heavy hearts and a sour taste. Do Ed (and Val) realize how much heat they are bringing down on this great kid? Does Wolfie realize whose big shoes he's
having to step into? Wolfie would gain a TON of respect for his future career by stepping aside on this one and showing his dad and
uncle the way. "Wolfie, BE OUR HERO!!!!!! You are going to have plenty of time in the sun!"
I don't think Ed and Al have any idea how much ill will they have created amongst their long-suffering fans by being such
"dirty water dogs" and pulling a stunt like this. And if they are putting out another Greatest Hits with no new material, that just
smacks of unbelievable greed on their part--we have already bought those songs 5 times (cassette or album, CD, Best of Vol. 1, Remasters, and Best of Both Worlds)!!!! Do they think they are fooling us? If we're the greatest fans in the world,
then we deserve a little more RESPECT!!! We have figured out that this band doesn't suffer from LSD (lead singer disease)--there
must be some other "Source of Infection".
I've been a huge fan since 1978, when the first album grabbed me by the throat and never let go--it is so disappointing
to have the guys be 30 years down the road with this amazing band, all men in their 50's, but still acting like 7 year olds
after a fight in the sandbox.
Ed & Al need to repair their legacy for their kids -- they need to get this right. Van Halen is about FUN, and this takes
almost all of the fun out of it. If Ed and Al don't understand that, then I'm not sure they really know what this amazing band is even
about -- "Van Halen" is not just their last name, it's an American institution that can still do something amazing -- a team with 4 special
pieces. Janie, if you care about Ed and the guys, we implore you to help them get this one right.
It would be SO EASY for them to get this right, to "Finish What Ya Started". It's not too late--don't tell us "The Dream is Over".

1996-2003. Edward may remember me - I had dinner with him and Valerie
the first night he landed in Australia for the band's tour in 1998.

Please pass the following two messages to Edward. These messages come
from a diehard fan who has followed this band through the good and bad
for well over 20 years. He will find my opinion is the same as almost
every other Van Halen fan on the internet.

1) Thank you for finally agreeing to tour again with Dave.

2) Please don't kill the reunion before it starts by not including
Michael Anthony. Please do whatever it takes to include Michael,
otherwise it will not be a true reunion. Please do this properly.
