Background Tracks 2007 Tour
I wonder if jump will be the only song on the new tour with backing keboard tracks? Maybe VH will use some tracks for I'll Wait and ATCWR?? Maybe dancing in the street? Additionally, I wonder if they'll utilize any background vocal tracks? By the way, has anyone ever wondered wo makes all the BG tracks VH use in concert? They were different on the 2004 tour than previous tours. I bet Eddie pays a production company to create them. Just something I've always wondered. I play in a band that uses keyboard tracks on certain songs and we create the ones we use, but it's a fairly complicated task and time consuming. That's why I wonder aboout VH and their tracks.
As usual, there is a great woman behind every idiot.

There's a old thread around here somewhere on this.
VH usually uses a hidden keyboard player. Alan Fitzgerald who was in Nightranger played behind the scenes on the 04 and the FUCK tours. All you need in this life is a tremendous sex drive and a great ego , brain's don't mean a shit! ~ Captain Tony Tarracino

5150 was Ed on keys with Sammy playing guitar.
OU812 was Ed on guys and some sequenced keys (pre-recorded by Ed).
FUCK was all sequenced keys (pre-recorded by Ed).
Balance and '04 were Alan "Fitz" Fitzgerald sitting behind a curtain playing live keys.
I'd thought Fitz was also on the keys for the III tour, but someone else pointed out it may bot have been. (Fitz and Sammy are good friends going back to the 70s.) So it could have been someone different, but there was someone playing live keys.
I don't know about the 1984 tour. I think I recall Ed saying in a 1986 interview he thought it was stupid having someone playing behind the stage, which is why he wanted to play live keys on the 5150 tour.

I have an interview where Alex pokes fun at bands that have pre-recorded, or hidden players.
I hated the pre-recorded crap. Play it live, the four of ya', thats all.

Fitz was also on the FUCK and the RHRN tours. On one bootleg I have from the FUCK tour, possibly the free show in Dallas from 91, Sam gives Fitz a cue from on stage before one of the keyboard songs.
According to an interview he did with Peavey's Monitor magazine during the Balance-era, some songs he actually played the parts and for other songs, they were sequenced.
I knew someone who worked with Fitz on another project and he said that Fitz also supplied added background vocals from offstage, too.

I know Ed said that there was a keyboard played on the 2004 tour, however I was on the stage, behind the stage, under the stage and at a soundcheck on the tour and there was no keyboard player or keyboards anywhere in sight. If he was in the building he must have been playing from one of the luxury suites. They did Jump and it certainly appeared that the soundman cue the track. He asked the band if they were ready and it came on.
