Roger Clyne and the Peacemakers
Here's my bi-annual pimping of my othe favorite band....Roger Clyne and the Peacemakers.
Roger Clyne fronted the band The Refreshement and has gone on to have a very good run as an Independent artist with a pretty hot band.
If you any issues with your music dabbling into country, don't even click the link below, but if you dig Petty, Mellencamp or Springsteen, please discover one of the greatest songwriters you've never heard of.....but if you'd rather hang with Zakk and Ozzy than Petty, then just keep movin'.
He's opened for Sam a few time and he too makes his own tequila...
I hate to say it, but a tequila drenched, almost 3 hour show, from Roger has just about erased any memory of a VH in my mind. When you're in a bar with 110 other peope....witnessing musical history......for me, it reminds me of the when folks talk about VH and their club days.
http://azpeacemakers.com/ecard/Actually I think most of us are Dave, Sam, and Mike fans. There's just a small group of people who have strange allegiances and like to get into petty pissing contests that I can't believe everyone on this site isn't bored of. - Brett

I saw Roger and the Peacemakers in Kansas City about three years ago, and really enjoyed the show and would see them again. Is the live album as good as I think it is?

Yes and No
It's a nice sounding recording, but the performance lacks some of the great things about an RCPM show....Rog'er voice on the verge of blowing out....a reggae inspired outro to a tune, a blown lyric here or there.....the damn thing is a little too polished for my tastes.....but then, I'm in the middle of collecting a lot of crowd boots....so, that's understandable.
Live at Billy Bob's is good for the casual listener, but hardcore fans crave something a bit rawer.
Please check out www.rogerclyne.net for upcoming tour dates this spring.....Here's to Life.Actually I think most of us are Dave, Sam, and Mike fans. I think I would be amiss in not backing jimmy on this one. jimmy introduced me to Roger Clyne almost 2 years ago now and his CD's are always near the top of the pile. I was a Refreshments fan so the transition was pretty easy. It is amazing how different Roger's music is while being very familiar at the same time. It's music you can put on and just let it play. It's great to listen to all year but nothing beats those hot summer nights having a few drinks and listening to Mr. Clyne. One of those artists that I probably would have skipped over and never known about if jimmy hadn't introduced me. It makes me wonder how many other similar artists are out there that we don't know about.

It's worth mentioning that the new record from Roger...to be released March 20th, was produced by the same guy behind "Fizzy Fuzzy, Big and Buzzy"...The Refreshments first record....one of the best ever.
While a lot of hardcore fans aren't happy with the evolution of the band, Roger's a great writer.....but, he's even better frontman. I've never witnessed a more energetic show.
My first show just blew me away. Here's this music that's "not heavy", yet it just kicked so much ass. It was so alive. It was so pure.
Not one person was at the show because they have been brainwashed by ClearChannel. Not one person was there because it was "the show to go to". There were no ads for the show. Just his website...that's it. 150 people in a bar that is 110 standing room only. The stage isn't high enough to see the band....just their heads. The PA sucks. There are only Chritmas lights around the stage...no grid. I had to stand for 2 hours before the show, just to keep my obstructed view "spot" of the stage......25 plus songs, almost 3 hours later, 21 shots of tequila, 3lbs of sweat from me, It was so unrock and roll.....yet that's what made it so rock and roll....or at least what rock had its roots in.
The shows are still over 2 hours, but the venues have gotten bigger, the crowd larger, but the shows are just as great. I've done 13 shows since 2002. Traveled to Chicago, New York, New Jersey, Baltimore and DC......each show about $12-$15.....more great memories to come this spring.Actually I think most of us are Dave, Sam, and Mike fans. There's just a small group of people who have strange allegiances and like to get into petty pissing contests that I can't believe everyone on this site isn't bored of. - Brett

To see why 40 dates from VH doesn't get me too excited...click below to see how hard the hardest working band in Rock has spent the past few years.

Jimmy - you need to come down to Phoenix and see them with 1000 crazy fans. Or better yet - see them in Rocky Pointe (Mexico) when they play for 4 hours and literally run out of songs to play.
The Peacemakers are an amazing live band. Roger gives 120% every show. I've probably seen them 50 times and have always had a great time. They can play for crowds of 50 to 10,000 and still put on the same quality show.
Can't wait for the new album!!"The sound of Van Halen was meant to spill out, all over your stereo and ruin the rest of your record collection "...David Lee Roth
Check out one of the best bands to come out of Arizona. Roger Clyne and the Peacemakers. www.rogerclyne.net

I'd love to come to Puerto Penasoco.....tough with two kids and a wife that digs Roger as well......it will happen.....just waiting for Disney trips and 10 year Anniversary cruises to wrap up....then....
Last year I did the cruise thru NYC....lots of AZ folks...neat to talk to them. Kind of sad for a lot of them that have seen "their band" get bigger and bigger...more an more dates out of town....
Folks just kept asking, "how the hell did you find out about RCPM...they're not on the radio."
As far as local shows in AZ....heard that folks get pretty pushy, very drunk.
As a matter of fact, one person from AZ attended a show at the IOTA Club in DC....they told a few of us that the local hardcore fans would kill to see the band in a bar with 100 folks......anymore it's more of an event in AZ....yet I had heard that the last few shows haven't been as packed.....
One note quickly, one show a few years ago, Roger's bus driver had quit that day, so he was passsing "his shots" to me. He gave one to my wife, one to me...and these weren't shot glasses, but like a highball glass....anyways, he takes his "shot"....tops my glass and my wifes glass off....it's in the middle of Mexico or Banditos....he says a little toast, we clink glasses....did I mention it's my first shot of tequila......ever......down the hatch....couldn't fuckin' beleive what I had just put down my throat....closed my eyes, just about knocked me on my feet.....Roger contineus the tune, leaning forward to ask me if I was OK.....then after the tune he says, "how about a hand to this guy down here who just did the biggest shot so far this tour......and little lady, yours wasn't small either." I did another 2 or 3 shots...felt great....sweating like Roger the rest of the night....but I "got it"...it was a good feelin' to be so close to a band..not in distance, but in spirit.......took the glass and have it in shadow box.Actually I think most of us are Dave, Sam, and Mike fans. Just got back from his second show at The Horseshoe in Toronto this year. Absolutely amazing to say the least. I will post some of the pictures tomorrow night. This guy never ceases to amaze me. I took a newbie with me who had never heard one of Roger's songs and by the end of it she was buying a couple CD's. At the end of the show he told everyone to give them 5 minutes to change and they would come and have a drink with everyone. Unfortunately I have a REAL early morning tomorrow and had to get home. Stupid work!

Glad to see you made it to the show....Roger has never dissapointed me.
I too caught a show about a week ago....little club, holds 400 if you pack them in like sardines. 2 hours, 23 songs, 17 bucks.
It was my 15th show since around 02 or 03....This particular show was a bit on the short side. I had talked with Roger's guitar player a few months ago in Virginia Beach, VA......and I brought up the length of their shows....some approaching 3 hours....most clocking at 2:15....with a long show hittin' 2:30.....he did mention that it's something that's always been discussed....so, judging by the setlists on this leg, they're trimming the setlist by a few tunes....
I'm looking forward to the pics....I've got about 10 tunes on videotape...but the audio is horribly overmodulated.....but, I'll link it here from youtube when I've got them up......
If you're a music fan and you have stumbled upon this thread.....don't buy a disc from Roger....google him....find out where he's playin.....go the show.....be happy.
