Any musicians near Boston / Cape Cod want to get together and play some VH? I play drums, guitar, keyboard, bass, and I sing. I want to start a VH tribute band. Contact me if interested.

How'd the mixing and mastering process go, Brett? Did you end up doing it?

I had kind of a weird realization over this last weekend. Now at age 32, I've had fleeting moments of wondering what original material I actually have to show for the decade that was my 20s. I released a not-very-good solo CD in '95 (at age 20) and have only done demos and web releases since. I've produced or engineered hundreds of stuff from other artists, but again there were really only a few things that I would say I'm really proud of. My band, AT/DT, has got a new CD in the works, and I do feel it's the best original thing I've ever done, but at the pace we're going the damn record won't be out until next year. So Saturday I started thinking about all the original songs I've recorded in my studio over the past ten years--about 60 total--and realized there were a few gems among them. With some work I could easily put together 10-20 songs and have a pretty damn good album. (This realization hit when I got one of my own songs from about 1998 stuck in my head. I started singing the chorus and went: "Shit, this is pretty catchy!") So Sunday I spent the whole day in the recording studio going over old tracks and making rough mixes. A few songs are just a couple of tweaks away from being done, but a few others will require some major overhauling (like I'll attempt to have my drummer and brother re-track drums for them). I've suddenly started feeling really good about what I've done, and in a stupid symbolic way I think I'll actually have an "album" (in the truest sense of the term) to hold and say: "This is what I did in my 20s."

So that's the long way of saying there'll be some new-old songs up on my MySpace solo page in the relative near future.

Nope I ended up using a guy online to mix it, and a friend at our singer's work did the mastering. The tracks on the myspace aren't mastered. I'm just glad it's over, it really became a chore and not fun at all.
