Petition for New Songs!
I have been a Huge VH fan for over 20 years now .. with that being said, I can only listen to the 1978-84 tunes just so much! I think I started with buying the records, than the tapes, and the CD'S, and the remastered .... I need new tunes! The 2 new songs on BOBW were great. They band has to put something new out, or its just the same tour with the same music. (what ever happened to Touring to support a new albumn?)
I have seen Dave 3 times in the last 3 years .. Sam 2 times .. and the 2004 VH Tour ... same tunes .. so the only thing I am getting for this tour is to see Dave with Eddie? ... I am not buying into it! Maybe if the band puts out a DVD of the tour .. I can see the concert for 1/4 of the price of a ticket.
Please add to this Post if you truely need to hear some NEW Van Halen! The fans deserve it!
PS. I do love all VH Classics .. but time has to move on. :-)

You may get your wish for "New Van Halen" if Wolfie plays and they eventually make new music. I'm hoping it will sound a bit different. Less background vocals, more in your face power. Wait, thats not VH we need some background harmony. Somebody call Mike.

Some may smirk at the idea of a petition, but the only weapon fans have to state what I think many prefer---new music--- is to state it loud and clear. Of course, given history, EVH won't listen or care. Does anyone think Alex, Sammy, Dave, Michael Anthony wouldn't have put out 4 albums by now if it were up to them?
Also if people show up and buy up all the tour tickets, there is no incentive for new music. On the other hand, I don't think EVH is influenced by these type things at all. With poor ticket sales he would go back in his cave and noodle for 10 more years and sulk.
By this time they could have made 2 albums with Dave, 2 with Sammy, 2 with Gary and have a damned all star singer album.
At least then we'd have 7 CDs for everyone to bitch about. If only EVH was a workaholic....the others would have followed along IMO.
Oh well. It is what it is.

Yeah, I'll add to this thread because I want new music.
Not to put a negative spin on things, but I don't think it will make a difference to anything. Nice idea though.

i rememebr in the late 80s VH was good for a new album about every 2 years...and they'd be released just around summer time w/ a tour...those are some of the best memories i have...
one time i pleaded w/ a music store owner to let me buy OU812 a day before it was supposed to be released...he had it in back....he did sell me a copy..
good times...damn good times...
WTF happened????????let's be real...EVH was GOD

From what I have been reading about how record co's and the music biz works in today's IPOD world, selling albums is NOT where the artists or recrdo co's make money. It's in the touring. Thus, we see 100.00 tix for Bob Seger, 35-50 for a tour shirt, etc. Not that those prices haven't been high for awhile, but now, they are insane. Unless you really care about your fans--or your band's legacy (and both are debatable here) why would an established band spend months or a year in a studio (actually working) when they can just work up a 16 song set list (mybe 17 if VH is feeling nice that day) tour, make millions and not have to deal with the stress of writing and recording new tunes (this is also substantiated by repeated reports of how tough it was to work with Dave in the studio/and /or get his vocals to work without difficulty. THANKS FOR THE READ. I am off to start a new setlist thread

I paid $8 or $10 back in '81 for the Women & Children 1st tour. I think the "3/4" sleeve concert jerseys were maybe $10 or $12 max. WTF.
I would rather have them do a couple albums (cds) with all shit before I would want to see them play..
Maybe Wolfie's "balls dropped" and Ed will let him sing backup to DLR..
