How come GW didn't ask Ed about...

I was just listening to the Tucson 2004 show on CD - the one where EVH wrote all over his chest with a Sharpie and smashed his green Wolfgang - and I was thinking, why didn't Guitar World ask him about that?

And why didn't they ask about his current drinking situation, since he made such a big deal about getting sober for Balance after being an alcoholic for all those years? Did he get a hold of an "illegal" cure for alcoholism?

And the obvious one is, why is he still smoking after getting tongue cancer? Surely no one buys the metal pick story.

And I guess they could have asked him about his relationships with MA, SH, Ray Danniels, and Valerie.

And why is he now releasing striped gear by the dozens when I'm sure Kramer, Ernie Ball, and Peavey would have died for such then-hot items back in the day when VH was relevant?

And why is he willing to get with DLR now when he has stated in the past that he would never work with him again?

I guess I was hoping for a little more "60 Minutes" and less of a "Larry King-ish" approach to the interview. Obviously it was all about whoring his new guitar.

My guess is that Ed's management gave GW a list of topics that Ed did not want to discuss. This happens pretty regularly in show business....you want the interview, then you only get to talk about what the star WANTS to talk about.....but who knows for sure.

A non-entertainment reporter would be crazy to take an interview with ground rules but in the 'biz' you have to have be willing to be a whore to get interviews and keep your job.

I have to agree with you guys on that. The reason why Guitar World gets
exclusive interviews with Eddie because they don't ask the hard questions. All the interview was about was making the new guitar and the musical equipment he used over time. It was definitely a fluff piece!

It might be because no one cares. Seriously. I was watching VH1 Classic a few days ago. The Yankee Rose video came on and they had reunion news about The Police scrolling up at the top. I thought that was odd instead of news about DLR touring with VH while his video was on it was breaking news about The Police.

GW has strayed off the instrument topic before with other artists, so to me most of these weren't too out of bounds.

But I agree that Stern would be the guy to ask these questions and he'd expect real answers. If not him, then maybe Golf Digest...

i saw that too,but i did see one scrolling at the top and it was saying van halen was re-screwing the fans

How bout'....because it's none of their business ? They're a guitar magazine, not The National Enquirer.

Actually, it's none of your business either....if he feels he wants to discuss any of those things in his own time, he will . Or ....he won't.

He has just as much a right to privacy as anyone of us, and if he doesn't feel like discussing PERSONAL things, he shouldn't have to, just because some fans feel that they deserve an explanation or something......
