A boy of 12 is believed to have become the world's youngest sex change patient after convincing doctors that he wanted to live the rest of his life as a female.

The boy - originally called Tim, but now known as Kim - has started to receive hormone treatment, in preparation for the operation that will eventually complete the sex change.

I don't see why the age should make any difference. It's not that person's fault for being born a human being with all the malfunctions that happen to occur in humans. That Tim/Kim kid now has a better chance to fully accustom to his new life without any further mental damage, like being teased gay/girly during the teenage period.

I don't think anyone's judging the kid, but even the article points out that there have been examples of a kid changing their mind, and that the long-term effects of these hormonal drugs on kids/teens are not really known... let alone the possibility going through any kind of potentially premature operations...
