Having never seen footage of Won't Get Fooled Again from LRHRN does Ed make a tribute to Pete Townshend by adopting the windmill style of picking?

I have the first show of the RHRN tour on video somewhere, haven't watched it in awhile but I'll say "no". I don't remember Ed doing that at all, he's playing the keyboard parts on guitar so he might have his hands full. I think he's doing the keyboard parts anyway, I don't remember the original that well....

anyway, I love that particular cover of that particular song.

Didn't it come out that the song wasn't live and it was done completely in the studio?

I thought that was established awhile back. Basically, I don't think they ever did it live, which is why in the VH Unleashed thing on MTV Sammy goes: "Geez we've never played this one in the studio!" and they all laugh (inside joke perhaps?)

That aside, I always thought it was a good cover. Less Van Halenized than any other cover I've heard them do.

there's constant debate about wether it was done live before or not...no one seems to know. They did do some who songs on the MOR and OU812 tours, I don't know if they ever did this one or not.

there's also debate as to wether a couple of songs on the video are at the concert or taped during soundcheck. Don't remember which ones.

I think it's just nitpickin myself, liten to the show they did at the whiskey in 93 they could pull off wgfa in concert so that's all that mattered to me.

It's an awesome cover, either that or Summertime Blues in '83 are my personal favourites. (Interestingly also done by The Who.)

I've heard rumors that VH did summertime blues with Sam on the RHRN tour but I've never heard it, I'd love to hear it if anyone has it.

I agree with you. The version of Won't Get Fooled Again on RHRN was phenomenal. It was definitely a highlight on that album. The old Summertime Blues cover also rocks.
