Will Dave be Kept on a leash?

In the past both Dave and Sam spoke alot during VH shows, both had thier individual personality.

On the 04 tour Sam barely spoke to the crowd, just a little bit here and there and I think it's been stated that Sam was told he could NOT say the words 'cabo wabo", mike didn't give any interviews.

I'm wondering if the brothers are gonna put any restrictions on Dave. I have a ton of old boots and Dave talks ALOT. Do you guys think Ed's gonna let him do whatever he wants onstage?

My same thoughts exactly. There was a moment where Eddie bit the bullet and smiled at Dave on the 96 VMA's(when Dave read the winner for best male video and did the "Let's have a big,blast off ,noisy,screamin' non-stop,summit or plummit, new york city style applause for bbbbbeck")....wondering if Dave will be doing his old shtick. I really hope so.....

it's Dave microphone, he won't be on a leash.

Sammy wasn't either with the one exception not to turn into a tequilla salesman - i don't think that was anything all that unreasonable.

I think he will be on a leash...Lets face it, its Eds band and he calls the shots...If Daves gets out of line he will be on the the next train out of town...Bank onit..

I doubt it, whether they want to admit or not, right now Eddie & Alex need Dave a hell of a lot more than Dave needs them. They may try and leash him but I get the feeling that Dave wouldn't put up with it long and we'd either see the same resulting end as we did in 2004 or the tour won't get past 10 dates. It's really just sad that as much talent as there is in this revolving door of a band none of them seem to be able to let go of the past enough to work together.

I think Dave may talk but not as much as say US Festival monologues. If he does end up doing the rumored tour he may talk as much as he does during his solo shows these days. He chatters but not as crazy as everybody thinks at the recent shows I have seen him.

I think Sam's shortened and/or non-existent rants in '04 were more about the production of the show. Meaning, it was a lot tighter of a show than we'd seen from VH... ever, possibly. No long "Panama" breakdowns, no long pre-"Give To Live" speeches (like on RHRN)... just one song to the next. I would hope, if the tour with Dave happens, that they go for a similar formula.

What's the point of bringing Dave back if you're going to try and restrain him? You're certainly not hiring him for his vocal prowess or his ability to get along well with others. Dave is an entertainer, he needs to be able to do his thing.

Hopefully though, he knows how to strike a balance and keep the focus on the music and not his schtick.

Exactly. If Dave can't be Dave, then what's the point of bringing him back at all? Then again, considering the dumb ass decisions Ed's been making as of late, I wouldn't rule this out either.

I could hear the converstation now.....

"Now Dave. Your ass cheeks are to be covered at all times before, during and after the show. No talking in between songs. You are not allowed to step in front of or next to me or Wolfie at any point during the show. Never make eye contact with any of us. You are NOT to jump off the drum riser or come within 5 feet of it. Do not run across the stage or make any sudden movements. There will be duct tape on the floor outlining where you can stand, you are not to stray out of that designated area for any reason. Do not do any martial arts kicks or sword twirling. No weapons of any kind are allowed. Do not stray from any of the lyrics of the songs. At the end of the show you are to exit stage left. Do not address the crowd or take a bow. Once you have exited the stage, the Van Halens will adress the crowd and take the bow then exit stage right. Backstage, there will be NO fucking of anyone's girlfriend. Any questions?"

I think Sam was told "no talking" for the most part and "no talking about CAbo Wabo at all" I even remember reading somewhere that someone was told they couldn't wear a Cabo shirt to a soundcheck cause it would piss off eddie.

Will Dave be allowed to give interviews or will Alex handle all of them? I don't remmeber for sure but I think Sam couldn't give an interview unless Al was there and I'm pretty sure Mike couldn't talk at all. Wonder if they'll do that to Dave?
