Ed Says "You can't be in two bands!"

With regards to Mike no longer being in VH, Ed recently stated "you can't be in two bands!" Hmmmm....that's interesting. If I'm not mistaken wasn't Sammy still with the Wabos during the 2004 tour...they just were taking a break. Another lame comment regarding the MA situation from the VH Camp. That new PR chick is doing one helluva job

A better argument would be that Dave's still involved w/ the DLR band. Who cares? He fired Mike, he's a hypocrit, waa waa waa.

    Better seats for me!

I agree as far as I can see MA was pretty loyal to
VH and hes not getting any younger and he needs to make a
living he like to play music.I just dont get why Eddie cant see that point

How about being in one band that actually tours and plays and one band that doesn't do shit for 2 or 4 or 6 years? Does that count?

As far as I can tell Mike was only in one band, and that's Sam's. Van Halen is a band every 6 or 7 years when Ed comes out of his alcohol-induced coma. I guess Mike should just sit in his house and drink himself to death like Ed...great idea.

He could also be showing his kids how to drink, kinda like what Ed does.

Additionally, Mike wasn't being asked to do much with regard to recording with VH, so what exactly was he being loyal to? He was written out of the band in '04, hadn't played on a VH recording since a few tracks on III, and took a shit deal for the '04 tour because he wanted to be loyal to the fans. Apparently he needed to change his last name to 'Van Halen' also and keep his VH-only beeper on him 24/7. How the fuck was he supposed to know if and when a call would ever come?

Keith Richards in the X-pensive Wino's...Still a Rolling Stone.

Mick Jagger recording & touring solo...Still a Rolling Stone.

Bill Wyman & the Rhythm Kings...Still a Rolling Stone (for a couple of years before retiring).

Ron Wood in a zillion outside musical projects...Still a Rolling Stone.

Charlie Watts Jazz combo doing Warm & Tender...Still a Rolling Stone.

Ed, take a lesson from the Stones. You can go out and do your own thing when the band's on hiatus and still come back when thing's are coming back together. Mike being in "another band" is a weak excuse by Ed to get his son in Van Halen, period.

Naah, I think there is too much read into the situation here. Mike & Sam enjoy being in a band together, and Ed & Alex are moving on. Things do change over time.

    Ed recently stated this where?

I am always fascinated about how people say that whether Mikey is involved or not they won't really see a difference because the magic was with Ed and Dave.... in that case... would you accept a tour without Alex??? Mind you many accomplished drummers can play like Alex.

let's not forget that evh also had a problem with mike hawking his sauce and sammy his tequila... so either you're making your living ONLY through vh, or you're not making one at all...
