Default If you suck again Ed, may as well hang them up...

If this guy thinks Roth and his kid are going to get him a free pass to do another tour wasted the cancer moved from his tongue to his brain...

This jackass has no problems charging $90 for regular seats and hundreds more for the packages and shows up wasted and unable to play? Fans get treated badly in the rings?

Too bad EVH surrounds himself with yes man after yes man who convince him he's still the man...it's bs...

All Ed has proven for the last 10 years is that he's a hasbeen...endorsement deals and porn soundtracks can't cover the fact that this guy has offered nothing solid for a decade...

If EVH can't muster up his ghosts and bring it this time, hang it up and let real guitar players keep the flame burning...
    Can't stop...addicted to the shindig...

I don't post here much but....... what a great post!!!! I love this band or else I wouldn't check this site everyday. However the truth is-this band will never be how we all want them to be. Hagar fan, Roth fan, Ed fan, Mikey fan, does Al have any fans??? One, all, some,, no matter what kind of fan you are, this band will never be it the way you hope it will be.

But when you pay to see a show, you're a customer and are entitled a product worth the price of that ticket. Being in the mere presense of the members of Van Halen isn't worth the price of that ticket, not to me at least. I pay to LISTEN to my favorite band while I watch them perform.

At times it seems Ed sounded real good the last time around. But I 've heard way too many boots and read way too many posts of how awful he was other times. There have been many a post on this site describing how much Eddie was OFF, whatever the cause.

Your post hits the nail on the head-we put up with this soap opera of a band you have there Ed so hopefully we can all listen to you play live in front of our naked steaming eyes. Either bring your A game or crawl back into 5150 and drink yourself silly, out of the public eye.

I mean sometimes it gets embarassing to even admit your a fan of this band at times. How much does it resemble a chessy daytime soap? "Yeah, I watch Days of Our Lives. So what???"

Come on Fellas, you have a chance to do something special, do it right. Because if you don't and futher drag the name "Van Halen" deeper through the mud, I won't have to worry about admitting to be a VH fan any longer-I won't be one!!!

I agree with Sacto, its time to put up or shut up. To charge what they charged for the last tour and be drunk and sloppy on stage is plain fucking wrong.
I did not attend the last tour and I am glad I didnt. I have no idea if I will attend this tour, I guess a lot will depend the Linkers reviews. If the prices are that of the 2004 tour then NO, I am not paying 150 minimum to see Eds kid play Bass, maybe $30.

well as much as I hate to admit it as a huge VH fan, you're exactly right. charging everyone $100 for a ticket and showing up so wasted you can't even remember which song you're playing is down right insulting to the fans. I was at the OKC show in 2004, which I believe was the worst night of the tour, and it was embarrassing. I couldn't believe how wasted Eddie was and his performance was the worst I've ever seen from ANYONE live. the next day the dj on a local radio station (who is a VH fan) was ripping VH, saying that it's time to retire and Eddie has lost it. sad but true. if you can't do it right, don't bother with it at all. I believe Eddie can still play guitar very well, but the man needs to get his priorities straight and kick the booze. you'd think he'd do it to at least be a good example for Wolfgang. seriously, 2004 was a trainwreck, I don't want to see that again.

I agree- 100 bucks for a drunken performance is unacceptable.

But Ed shouldn't hang em up, if he comes out and plays drunk. I think that's dumb. Lets see what music they creative with wolf first. If he insists on playing drunk and being an ass onstage, then people should just not go. Hey, I woudn't pay 100 bucks for that BS. I would still however, pay money to see him play drunk. I think the price would be a bar's covercharge, and then it would be the best 10 bucks I ever spent.

When Ed does the tour this summer, he'll act no different than he did at the NAMM show. And right now perception of ED on that vid is that he is sober. At least the majority think that. It will be very intersting if people percieve the same behavior as him being a drunk ass...and not nervous ED. I sure hope not.

But if he does play drunk, and the playing will speak for itself, tHe person he would be letting down the most would be wolf, not the fans. At least we have the choice to not dish out a 100 bucks.

Dave won't stick around if Eddie's a mess. The tension between Eddie and Sammy was almost definitely because of Eddie's poor performances due to excessive drinking. Have you guys seen Dave lately? His band is and has been SO FUCKING TIGHT every show and bootleg I've witnessed since '99. I somehow think the performances will be awesome since Eddie has always been worried about Dave upstanding him. I think we may see some focused and classic playing from Eddie this coming tour. Not to mention he's gonna be "on a team" with his son, and he wants to be seen as the hero...not uncle Dave. Things should be interesting...

You guys have a great thread here. I don't think any show should be $100, let alone a drunken performer.

as a Dave supporter I must say that i haven't been impressed with what I've seen over at youtbue from recent shows.. although I guess he's singing ok for him, the strut that you saw in 1981 has become a stand still. Not that I expect him to be runnin' around doing sumersaults all night but at least Mick Jagger still attempts to work the entire stage the whole show. I've seen Dave just standing around. I could care less if the guy kicks and does jumps off the drum riser. but you gotta AT LEAST work the stage

we all know the kid will be standing around, and if it's the same as 2004 then Eddie will be doing a lot of laying down

that's too much standing and laying around for $200

.....but then again, you might get Dave and Ed trying to upstage each other.

I still think they'll drag their song tempos through the mud.

Probably won't be as loud as it was back in the day where you could feel it in your chest it was so goddamn loud

I can't see this being nothing more than average.

    Dude, that's a guarantee.

Should be even more uncomfortable to watch than the hissy fit those poor Arizonans witnessed on the last show of the '04 tour.

U2 and Bruce Springsteen are worth every dime. They always bring there A-Game and thank the fans for coming out and spending there hard earned money. I will always pay $100 plus to see those two acts.

    Great post Sacto.

Well, Ed made the decision really easy when he dumped Mike. I probably would have gone with Mike there (if the tour made it long enough to get to Chicago ) But with Teen Wolf....fuhhhhget about it.

I still cannot believe they convinced promoters to support a PG-15 version of Van Halen in place of a down and dirty REAL CVH reunion.
