Default VH to play at RRHOF...4 songs??

    From dlrarmy..............

    RRHOF Performance

It's been a long time since I rocked this board out, so cheers to those who I know well. A close friend of mine is on the board of the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. This morning I asked him if Van Halen had agreed to perform. He says as of now, the band will perform 2 songs with Dave and 2 songs with Sammy. He wasn't certain if Michael Anthony would be in the lineup or Wolfy, although he did say Mike more than likely would be at the presentation. He was also very quick to add that it was an extremely delicate situation, and he wouldn't be surprised if the whole thing imploded.

Take it for what it's worth. I'm not one to start internet rumors - I never did when I was a regular here under another name. But I thought this was information worth sharing.

According to dlrarmy.com, Van Halen wll perform You Really Got Me and Panama at the ceremony. No word on which members will actually go up there and perform, but since those are 2 of the Dave era songs Sammy was willing to sing, anything is possible!

Interesting. It would be amazing if these guys actually woke up in the middle age and decided to actually DO something.

I know its a pipe dream and a half, but it would be great if they all actually got along well enough to do an album of new material taking new Sammy AND new Dave stuff and have a tour. Dave and Sammy wouldn't actually have to be around one another. They could tour the cities they did in 2004 with Dave, and hit some overseas or markets they missed later on with Sammy.

And maybe Hilary and George W. Bush will make out on camera at the Oscars.

Well I'll take it for what it's worth. Would be nice though if they could all get along for 20 minutes to do 4 songs. I don't agree with the choices of Panama and YRGM. I understand they are well known VH tunes but what about Runnin with the Devil and Unchained. Get the goosebumps going with the thumping of Runnin With The Devil.

Runnin' might put too much focus on the fact that there's a little kid on bass.

YRGM wasn't an original tune from them so I wouldn't expect to hear that.

I was gonna say, I wouldn't care if VH NEVER played YRGM again. I know it
was the 1st single and it's a great cover and whatever, but it's tired and hey,
    IT'S A COVER.

If this does go down, and it is truly 2 songs for Sammy and 2 songs for DLR, I'd put my money on this:

Michael would play on the Sammy tunes, and
Wolfie would play on the DLR tunes.

Sort of an out with the old (Sammy / Michael) and in with the new (DLR / Wolfie).

If they do play, Mike will play on both sets.

    D I T T O ! !

I feel the same about RWTD, although not a cover....

I could think of 30 VH songs that I would rather hear than YRGM, RWTD, or Unchained.....

Tired, overplayed, and certainly not their "Best" Hard Rock.... I'm neutral about Panama.

But, this is big business, and I know exactly what direction this will go. Just look at their "Best" Of offering.....
This is the "Best" ---- I DO NOT think so ! !
So, there's confusion about is best and what isn't.

I've already given my dream list on the other "What will they play" forum.

Frankly, I'm glad I have the VH studio albums to re-visit, as THOSE WERE THE GLORY DAYS and still worth re-living!!

I never liked the way Dave sang Panama live. In '84, he just yelled it and now he just sort of speaks the verses. I don't think it's a strong song to perform.

Yeah, I'm sure he'd have a tough time with the 3 notes in the bassline of that song.

I meant the blinking spotlight with Wolfgang standing front and center plucking those notes. It's bass for fuck's sake... not like anyone could think it was hard to play.
