...that VH does this thing with his kid for the summer, then in the fall, when he goes back to school, VH does an arena tour with Mike back in the fold? Maybe something is already arranged that we don't know about...

I just can't see this thing with his kid, if true, going long term.

I still can't believe they're doing this without Mike.
I can't remember which comedian said it, about the current state of Van Halen, but he said right now, Van Halen is like a really hot playboy playmate with a prosthetic leg.

    BRING BACK THE CLASSIC LINEUP!

I can't even have an opinion on ANYTHING anymore unless it's exactly what everyone else thinks...oh and if I do it means I HATE this album, and hope it fails. Man some of you can fuck off...seriously. - BRETT

"You make music for people. Otherwise, just play in your closet. And how do you reach the most people? By giving them the band that they know. To do it any other way would be selfish.” - EVH, June 19, 2015 Billboard Magazine

"That's a load of crap. The fans know Michael Anthony." - Me, regarding the above quote from EVH, June 19, 2015

If he pulls off this tour and holds up his end...Wolfie is IN Van Halen ! Dave will be gone again before Wolfgang is.........

So I'd say %5....simply because we ARE talking about Van Halen, after all !

And school has nothing to do with it....that's what tutors are for !

He's In Van Halen, he'll never step foot in a classroom again !

I have a feeling, unfortunately, that Mike is long gone from the VH equation. I'm gonna go and enjoy this for what it is. A chance to see Ed and Dave performing on stage together probably for the last time. Its not the classic reunion most of us wanted to see but when it comes to this band you really have to take what you can get. And at least this time we get Ed and Dave together on stage.

A couple of years ago when the Minnesota Vikings were going through a kicker crisis they brought back 45 year-old Gary Anderson to finish the season out. If for some reason the kid doesn't work out, there might be an invitation extended to Mike. That, more than likely, is probably the only way we will ever see Mike back in VH again.

Unfortunately, I think the only reason EVH wants to tour (or play, for that matter) is because Wolfgang asked him to do it. I'm sure if Wolfie had no interest in the band, EVH would be content to putz around "5150" for the rest of his life.

In other words, no Wolfgang = no tour.

That's it exactly, the best chance of Mike getting back involved.

Only I don't know if Mike will be ready and willing at that point.

This is a crying shame on many levels, exposing your 15 year old son to a road tour while you are never sober doesn't seem like a good parental influence. Where the hell is Val during this thing? Any decent mother would never go for this. As for Dave, shame on him for allowing this to go on without Mike. For the first time since their breakup he has some leverage and totally drops the ball. Oh well, I guess I was hoping for some sort of order this time around but their best is definitely behind them so I will enjoy them for what they were and not the fucking circus they've turned out to be.

When I was 15 I would have killed to go on tour, and I was already drinking and smoking. It's only a couple years difference from when Eddie was out playing shows anyway. Everyone thinks the kid's gonna Jimi Hendrix himself on tour... Hell, I can't imagine the tour will get much crazier than sushi and Loon back stage.

Besides, they'll have a nice area with a Johnny Jump-Up for Wolf to play in.

Ed obviously doesn't want Mike in the band. It doesn't seem like Ed really cares much if Dave is in the band or not.
I don't think Dave has as much leverage as we might think. But who knows.

Billy Sheehan will be in Van Halen before Mikey is ever invited back. Sad, but most likely true.

    How about this,

Ed wants to play with his son,
Ed wants to play the old stuff again,
Dave (in Ed's eyes) is the lesser of two evils and wants to play with Ed again too.

The new attitude is fuck what everyone else wants, we want to play with who WE want. We listened to the critics after Gary, but we were happy with Gary and reluctantly gave in. Now its our turn to do what WE want.
Its our right, we gave the fans 11 albums and many tours. We are in our 50's now and don't want to go out and do what other people want us to do.

We are artists of the musical kind and from now on we will create what we want. Lke it or not, we will still do it.

I gotta agree with you. I also have a more pessimistic view of things. I'm literally fearful that Ed will drop dead any day now (from whatever causes). So, I want to make sure I see him in concert every time he comes around before it's too late. I'd hate to skip a tour only to find out I missed my last chance to watch my hero play guitar.

    You are welcome.

Nobody is taking the approach that they may just be doing it for themselves and just want to play too.
