Although I have become a huge David fan in my old age (I was fixated on Edward in my youth) I seem to recall that the idea of worshipping the lead singer of any band when I was a teenager had a kind of gay context to it. Getting into a players technique and his gear and stuff permitted one to sidestep the entire homo angle.

This guy is a flat out jackass. All of the homophobic shit aside, it still would be an ignorant statement. Good guitar players are a dime dozen and I know myself because I happen to be one. You know how hard it is to find a good frontman? Someone who can sing and looks good enough to generate interest from female fans? It's tough - sometimes I think it's impossible these days since everyone is a fat overweight wannabe Fred Durst or Aaron Lewis wannabe. Lead singers, bassists and especially drummers should not be taken lightly. Half of the time, they're just as important as the guitar player. For instance, if the guitarist's rhythm section left him then what would he have? Nothing..
