How about this?
http://cgi.ebay.com/EASTWOOD-EKO-ROK...QQcmdZViewItem
The only other things I could find named "Rocket" are Harmony hollow body electrics and an Ibanez Rockets that are simple "Flying V" or "Destroyer bodied knock-offs."The reasonable man adapts himself to the world; the unreasonable one persists in trying to adapt the world to himself. Therefore, all progress depends on the unreasonable man."George Bernard Shaw

The description of the headstock does indeed sound like a Harmony Rocket (big old boat paddle). With this being a bolt on neck it is possible someone could have changed the neck. Is the made in Japan sticker on the neck? This would be odd as Harmony Rockets were manufactured in the U.S. in the 50's and 60's. The bodies on these were jazz style semi-hollow with f holes for the most part. Can you post a picture?

I found that pic on a web site and it lists the examples you've shown as early Ibanez. Keep in mind there were a ton of Japanese guitar makers in that time frame. It very well could have been done in a hut by Tong Wang Fung (a fictional name pulled outta my ass, you get the point).

I'll be damned. We had one of those things (some burgundy color, too ) laying around my drummer's practice room for years. Nobody knew where or when the thing showed up, it simply was always there.
The room was a converted "bar/rec-room" from his dad's own playing days, which was destroyed once the teenagers started hanging around in it as they grew up.
I'm positive one could buy one of these things at "Jackson/Byrons" in the early 70's. You could even get a crappy strap, a capo that was surprisingly good and a package of thumbpicks, along with these gigantic "triangle" shaped picks that came in these odd "rainbow" mishmashed color schemes.
Holy Fuck, Batman. I just had a flashback of being forced to go clothes shopping with my mom for the start of school. "Craig, get away from those hippie clothes (jeans) and come try on these slacks."
Looks like I'll be heading back to therapy."The reasonable man adapts himself to the world; the unreasonable one persists in trying to adapt the world to himself. Therefore, all progress depends on the unreasonable man."George Bernard Shaw
