I was just singin' this one to myself this morning for some reason and something occurred to me: Who is Dave addressing in the lyrics? It's a song encouraging someone to keep trying when times are hard right? Now is it an externalised dialogue with himself? You know "Come on Davey boy, you can do it", or is it about/to a specific person whom Dave knows? Or is it just a general thing. Any ideas?

Plus, it's a cool song with a great sentiment IMO, but I hear a lot of people saying it was their least favourite on VH1. I like it...

I think it was just a geaneral kind of song, like DOA. Dave wasn't really the outlaw on the run in DOA... Or was he?

But seriously, I think Little Dreamer doesn't rank very high on the VH1 list of favorite songs because it's a downer. Not very happy-go-lucky, like "Ice Cream Man" and not as bold or as in your face as "Atomic Punk."

It's a sad, blues-rock kinda song that doesn't have the benefit of uplifting lyrics to give it a saving grace.

Still, I dig it. Dave's lyrics make you think. The music is laid back for the most part, but near the end Eddie hits this one note, and it stands out - It sounds like he's stabbed a cat. LOL.

    (Wait... that's not funny. )

Anyway, it's not my least favorite song off of VH1, but it's near the middle-bottom.

Something about this song just grabbed me when I heard it, and it's one of my favorites off of VH1.

I'm not sure what it was though, can't put my finger on it. I think maybe it was how perfectly the lyrics and music matched up.

Little Dreamer is a great song, and a nice change of pace on VH 1. Listen to the solo on the remastered version (especially you DIF, buy it buy it buy it), it sounds so great. And it's yet another song in the VH catalogue with awesome back up vocals.

Love the stabbed cat reference-that describes it!!!! Love the song-especially on the "extended" versions on bootlegs. My fave is on "Shinjuku 78" where Ed does a long solo at the beginning of the song.

I think its' a great example of how you can do a downbeat tune without turning it into a 'power ballad'...

That's actually a great way to describe the song. It is what it is, take it or leave it.

    It never compromises itself.

This is the best imo, version of "Little Dreamer". Dave sounds great- that's his real vocal ability, in his element- these types of songs. Such a great change of pace in a show but riveting. Eddie sounds great on this version as well. Slow, blusey, subtle yet distinguishable.

I hope this and "Secrets" are two deep cuts they do on this tour coming up
Wolfie is not Mike, but he's more than ok.
Mike is gone, but not forgotten. They played some amazing shows from 2007-2015; some people are in denial about it.
