    Default Ed's Video?

Is it just me, or does Ed seem "kinda out of it" during the interveiw in Guitar World? Just seems the more he ages .. he gets more "dopey". Just my opinion, but I think I liked him better when I just saw his older photos. Plus the whole deal with the Adult Videos .. that is pretty "out there". Saying all this.. I have been a fan for 20 years .. I just like to remember the good times. In Daves book he even quotes "Ed has never even read a book"!

    Just my .02 cents

    Dave said that? LOL.

Well, back in the day, I doubt Eddie had much time for it. He paid dearly to be the best rock guitarist of the time (practice, practice, practice). You will find more geniuses in the world to have been people that obssesively worked on one area to the deteriment of others. It is the price you pay.

As the saying goes, Jack of all trades and master of none.

Still, someone posted some photos from "The Gathering," and, although the library was indeed empty at the time of the party, there were some stacks of books somewhere in the house. I don't remember the titles, but I think one had to do with beating cancer, and another one was an astronomy book (NOT astrology, from what I recall, which was mildly impressive).

In Dave's book he also says something along the lines of he showed lyrics he wrote to either MWM or CGTSNM to Ed and Ed held them in front of his face for about 10 seconds and said "Nope." Dave then referred to Ed's eyes as "muscles he doesn't use"!

Actually, Roth said "EVH doesn't read...it's a muscle he doesn't use." This was in reference to Ed Van Halen's dismissal of DLR's lyrics for the tunes for the first "Best Of" album, whereas EVH "sort of stuck his nose in the middle of the page and stared at it". DLR then went on to question why (beside EVH) Alex Van Halen suddenly was reviewing and requesting rewrites of Roth's lyrics.

I thought he was fine in the video......I'm not really sure what people still expect from a guy that's been through as much as he has recently....No he's not the happy go lucky grinning Dutch kid anymore, but at 50+, is he supposed to be ?

The only thing that really struck me was his speech, and I'm not nit-picking because it's very evident. Some words sound slurred at times and it seems he's always dealing with too much saliva in his mouth, I don't know...I'm sure it's from the partial tongue amputation, but who knows.

And I don't know why he grows his hair like that if it's gonna bother him so much ! He's constantly fucking with it and brushing it away out of his face !

Ed...you're over 50, just cut that shit already ! LOL

Well there was a half drunken bottle of the Loon in the video. Who knows how old it was and if he actually drank it before the shoot. Part of me thinks that it was left for the linkers that badger him about it. Just like the end of the Catherine video.

Anyway he may have had some wine before speaking. Its probably tougher to speak when you have a third of your tounge removed. I also don't believe Eddie took the most challenging courses in High School.

However he is fluent in 2 languages which is more then I can say for myself.

He also speaks in public about as effective as our prez.

I am glad Eddie is still with us. When I met him and saw his condition in 2004 I wondered if he would still be around in 2007. All things considered, he seems to be OK in the video.

I actually thought Ed was pretty coherent in the vid. I think he's always just had a mild case of A.D.D. Notice how he's always fidgiting with something? LOL! I think he actually looks to be in pretty good health & spirits...

Worked for me anyway. I still have colleagues asking me what it is like to fuck a green womanoid with seventeen breasts.

Watching that video, the first thing I thought was that his cognitive abilities have slowed down somewhat in recent years. The second thing that I noticed was that he pushes his hair back more than Jennifer Aniston.

His partying in the 80s is just catching up with him, that's all. He's probably lived the equivalent of several lifetimes and its all been compressed into the last 30 years. I'm sure Eddie has experienced things most people will never dream of. And top all that off with a large dose of cancer, divorce, and who knows what else. It will age you fast. And I'm sure he'd do it all over again the same way if he could.

I'm grateful for all those years and will take anything else he decides to offer.
