Default Modded my Squier to make it HSS

So my friend gave me his old Peavey pickup (obviously not the best 'bucker out there, but leaps and bounds better than my Squier single coil!)

I put it in the bridge position of my Squier strat:

Sounds SO MUCH BETTER than my old single...

Oh, I made the hole in my pick guard with a dremel tool, lol.

Nice...I put in a SD HotRails in my Mexi-Squier, and it is SWEET!

If you like that, try the DiMarzio single-coil sized Tone Zone humbucker. I put one in my tele and the thing just screams! People trip out because they're expecting to hear tele twang and then I rip into Godsmack or something else heavy; and they're amazed!

Otis, does that pickup still have the single coil hum to it?

Not at all. It's a full-on humbucker, much like the SD Hotrails, that fit's in a single-coil space. You can get 'em for strats too. Best in the bridge position. It's the closest off-the-rack DiMarzio pickup to the one used in the EBMM EVH/Axis models. It flat-out rocks! Ibanez puts them in their Paul Gilbert models and he swears by them.

Do yourself a favor and check it out, but check out the reviews on Harmony Central first to make sure it's what you want. It's my favorite replacement pickup. My tele is alder, BTW. I buy/sell/trade on eBay all the time and that is the one guitar that you'd have to pry out of my cold, dead hands...to give you an idea of how great it plays/sounds...

If you combine the Tone Zone with the Air Norton (neck position), it's the closest you can get - using stock pickups - to the EBMM EVH/Axis pickup combo.
