    Default VAN HALEN SOUND SCANS

Sammy Hagar- I sold 44 million records with Van Halen

    The numbers don't lie:
    Van Halen- 40 Million
    Van hagar- 19 Million
    Van Disaster- 500,00

    Van Halen – 10X Platinum, (10 Million)
    Van Halen II – 5X P
    Women & Children First – 3X P
    Fair Warning – 2X P
    Diver Down – 4X P
    1984 – 10X P
    5150 – 6X P
    OU812 – 4X P
    FUCK – 3X P
Live – 2X P (so, only a million “copies” sold)
    Balance – 3X P
    III – Gold, (500,000)

    Best Of, Vol. 1 – 6X P (whatever happened to Vol. 2?)
Best Of Both Worlds – Platimum

Sammy may be quoting worldwide sales...which is more than possible with over 19 in US (if you count the Best Ofs)

This does not include returns, damages, theft, lost etc.

A lot of the Classic VH sales were during Sam's tenure and I think that he includes that in his number.

Now I sincerely believe that the sixpacks sales were helped by the continued success of Van Halen as Sam fans and new fans would dig into the old catalog, but it makes his math funny.
If I don't respond to you it means I have you on ignore, which means you are a douchenozzle.

Since the BB article Just thought it need'ed to be addressed. The whole debate of the HOF. Many have said well he sold alot of records with them, he did in relative terms but not more than Dave which he asserts to alot.

I find it a little hard to believe Best Of Volume I sold 6million copies. that can't be right. i'd think maybe 2-3million would be a little more believable.

You spin the numbers pretty well also. BOV1 is certified at 3 million, not six. And why did you give that six to the Van Halen category, half of that disc was Hagar era songs. The whole thing is slightly silly.

Can get the exact nubers because I am haveing "issues" with the RIAA website. It has a 2 Million certification. That may mean 2,999,999 copies sold. Might be "worldwide" sales of more than 6 million but I still think that is a bit high.

They were pulled from soundscan, not the RIAA. which does not update. Sound Scan is real time.

Soundscan numbers start in 1991, I seriously doubt VH1 and 1984 have sold 10 million copies since 1991. I know they haven't.

BOV was certified at 3 million around 10 years ago, I have a real hard believing it sold another 3 million in the last 10 years. And yes you should evenly split those numbers between both eras if you're trying to do this correctly.

Dude I know you have only been posting here a short while, but this discussion has come up 100's of times over the last 7 years. Everyone knows that VH sold more with Dave, no matter what Sam is saying. We all know that! I can't believe we can't just move on past it, or that it still matters to some. Who the fuck cares.

Both VH1 and 1984 have sold ten million-plus since their respective releases. They were certified 'Diamond' a few years back.

Right, but what Brett is saying is that SoundScan began tracking sales in 1991. They did not go back in time and recapture over the counter sales. There is no way that VH or 1984 have sold 10 million copies since the inception of Sound Scan. 1984 for instance had 7 million copies sold by 1985 according to the RIAA--6 years before SoundScan.

So people can continue the Dave vs Sam pissing contest for a 3rd decade.

Also, if you include the 2 best of albums, it's 25 million, not 19 million.

I've been a fan of the band since Roth was in the band, and I have never once heard Sammy say his era in Van Halen sold more than Dave's, much less said it "alot".
