March 12th will define a legacy. Will Van Halen be enshrined as a soap opera, or a band that has changed rock and roll forever?

I'm asking (begging) that for one night, it's about the music. For one night, Ed v. Mike, and Sam v. Ed, and Dave v. Sam, and Tequila & Hot Sauce v. Peavey or Charvel or whatever...put it away.

For one night, let it be about Running with the Devil. Let it be about Dreams. Let it be about Hot Summer Nights and Beautiful Girls. Right Now, let it be about the music, the Stuff You Can't Get No More.

For one night, let me show my friends and family why I fell in love with this music. I'm from Dallas...let me show them a band that cares so much for their music and fans that they play free.

March 13th will come soon enough...Let March 13th be about cups and milk ads, tequila and porn. On March 12th, let it be about (damn near) 30 years of rock and roll.

Paul and Ringo would give anything for one night. So would Brian May and John Deacon ...so would Roger Daltry, or Double Trouble, or countless others who will never get the chance.

I thought about posting almost the exact same thing. Can't they just put all the petty shit aside for 1 day...a few hours? Just go up there, accept the award, don't take any shots at each other and call it a day. Who would complain if that happened?

I'm almost embarrased to think of how bad this could end up being.
