I did some googling and found this. It has some interesting tidbits I'd never heard before. I finally got the scoop on Sammy's boxing career - one fight.

Some interesting thing, especially one anecdote about Alex wanting Sam to sign a blank piece of paper in 1985 - never heard that one.

I don't like the writer's perspective, though. He's using the fact that Sam wasn't popular with critics to doubt Sammy's success. How could someone with as many platinum records, houses, millions of dollars in the bankd, a grammy, a 30+ years career not be considered succesful? What does this journalist have to show for himself, what has HE accomplished?

I thought the tone of the article was just out of line. And I work in publishing.

I really think the article is kind've lame, although very informative. Every second line metions how nobody likes Hagar, or how he couldn't write a good song. I know some people don't like his voice, but I think it's totally blown out of proportion in this article.

What a gay article. For the life of me I can not understand why people like this write about stuff they already don't like or understand, what's the point? I hate rap, im not about to say it sucks though. Just because I don't like it that doesn't mean it sucks. Also, if I don't understand something then I probably won't write about it.

It was, but that's mediot's for ya. Most of them slant the article towards their own point of view.

Alex Van Halen's brother-in-law became the band's manager, and brought in more commercial offers: a milk advertisement, a greatest hits package, a song for the film Twister. Hagar refuses to even mention his name.

"He destroyed one of the great bands of all time," Hagar says.

Of course, we all know this is pretty much true. Lately though, whenever i think of this, i can't help but feel that Eddie was a major factor in it as well. Granted, it's his band, but that doesn't change the fact that his choices along the way pretty much killed the band. And in '07, here we go again.

If you've ever seen what kind of shitholes Fontana and San Bernardino are, then you know how much Sam has accomplished, coming from that area of the state, and making it to the top. Plus he recorded some albums that are now considered classics. How many people get to do this?
If you've ever been a musician, you know how hard it is to make it in this business, let alone achieve Sam's level of success.

Boy you're not kidding about Fontana and the whole San Bernardino county in general being a shit hole. I agree with you that Sammy has accomplished a lot.

Why i am not the biggest fan of sammy, i did however like some of his solo stuff. It alway's pisses me off how some people just don't get it!! V.H with sammy is not my cup of tea, but sammy has a great voice and has a knack for churning out radio friendly song's. He lasted longer than roth!! Also who else could put up the van halen brother's for ten year's!! Also he still has all his hair, unlike roth!!
