What should they play?
Assuming Dave and Sammy are both there, what songs would you have them play?:
Do you flip-flop back and forth between eras? This is not necessarily the best choice, but would it be something like this?:
Eruption, Jump, Right Now, Jamie's Crying, Dreams, Happy Trails (everyone together)
What would you want to see?

Van Halen `jumps' Into Rock Hall
By Associated Press
CLEVELAND - Van Halen made a "jump" into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame on Monday along with Grandmaster Flash and the Furious Five, R.E.M., the Ronettes and Patti Smith.
A panel of 600 industry experts selected the five artists to be inducted at the annual ceremony, to be held March 12 in New York.
Van Halen was the 1980s hard rock quartet led by guitarist Eddie Van Halen, outrageous lead vocalist David Lee Roth, and later rocker Sammy Hagar, that put out hits such as "Jump" and "Dreams."
R.E.M. was the quintessential indie rock band until breaking through to mass success in the early 1990s with songs like "Losing My Religion."
Grandmaster Flash led the most innovative act in early hip-hop, and the song "The Message" was like a letter from urban America.
Punk rock poet Patti Smith and Phil Spector favorites the Ronettes round out the 2007 class.
To be eligible, artists must have issued a first single or album at least 25 years before nomination.

With Dave something that he con pull off for the world to see on TV to help bolster tour interest. I'd say "ATBL".
For Sammy it would probably be something like Top of the World.
I don't think that they would bring out the keyboard/piano songs for the HOF show so that leave out the obvious "Jump" and "Right Now".'Old Van Halen, when I was in it-classic Van Halen-makes you wanna drink, dance and screw, right? And the new Van Halen encourages you to drink milk, drive a Nissan and have a relationship.' - David Lee Roth.

Aren't we speculating at this point that Mike won't be there? Just becuase the cruise is that week doesn't mean he won't be there for the ceremony.
Don't drink the Jim Jones punch. They're called theToxic Twins for a reason...

Achievements:
Typically artists play up to three songs. Often though only one or two make it onto the televised version on VH1. For instance the Police performed Roxanne, Message In a Bottle, and Every Breath You Take but Message In a Bottle was edited out of the televised show, so it may have appeared those were the only two songs done.
It will be one Sammy song, one Dave song and either one they do together or nothing else.

Well in a perfect world, Sammy, Dave and Mike would participate and WOULD NOT play the following songs.
ATBL
YRGM
Jump
Panama
Why Can't This Be Love
When its Love
Right Now.
Anything else would be fine by me.

Know Mike, who cares?
no Mike, still Van Halen.Wolfie is not Mike, but he's more than ok.
Mike is gone, but not forgotten. They played some amazing shows from 2007-2015; some people are in denial about it.

I've seen bands perform 3 songs (as many as 4, if memory serves... I forget what U2 did), but I was just trying to flesh something out. I think Eddie HAS to start with Eruption, no matter what... don't know if it would count as a full song (I know it's its own track, so let's not start that debate for the millionth time)... but you would have to pick what's considered the signature songs that the mainstream public knows and Jump and Right Now are probably that from each era. If it's just Dave, then you can take your pick for the second song.
I don't see Mike and Sammy not being there at all... at least not Mike... he's as much a part of the success of the band as anyone. Who knows? Maybe with Mike being there, it could open the door to mend some fences. It's going to be a joke if they go out with Wolfie on bass; I'm not knocking the kid, it's just going to look stupid to have three 40 and 50 somethings playing with a teen, no matter how good he may be.

They don't wanna admit that Dave's talent had a shelf life. History proves that.
