Any band, any album. Pick a band to turn others onto or just pimp an album you feel is killer. Here's mine:

Lynch Mob: Wicked Sensation: I think George Lynch's biggest mistake was firing Oni Logan (nobody really knows why). The self-titled album is decent, but Logan just sounds better to me then Robert Mason. Anyways, for those of you familiar with Lynch's work in Dokken, Lynch Mob is NOTHING like them. I have all the Dokken albums, but I find their material too sappy sometimes. Wicked Sensation is amazing, the title track, River of Love, No Bed Of Roses, Hell Child, this album is just all out rock n' roll, and Lynch is amazing on it as always. If there is any Lynch Mob album worth owning, it's this one. Great vocals, powerful drums and a real upbeat sound you'd never find on a Dokken record. If it was released in the 1980's, it could've sold millions more.

I saw LM after their first album came out and Oni had a lot of trouble reproducing live what he did in the studio. The guy was singing from his throat and straining terribly, the guy sounded awful, and some of the concert was recorded for a TV network rock-concert show. Oni was not happy at all that the concert was being taped showing his warts'n'all.

He sounds amazing on album, but making it happen on stage is a different story. I for one was not surprised that he got fired.

    Edit: This is the vid.

Robert Plant - Fate Of Nations (1993)

I REALLY love this album. Honestly, whenever I play it and someone else is around they seem to like it as well. I just mention it because it never seems to be talked about.

I thought that Blue Murder was awesome. Every song on the album was excellent, I rarely say that. A real guitar fans album. The guitar player/singer was the same guy that played on the Whitesnake album that made them huge. (Here I go, still of the night) The guys name was John Sykes, he is great. I completely recommend it!! On the flip side, I saw Whitesnake in concert and it was the worst I ever saw, until I saw 3rd eye blind.

Aerosmith - Night in the Ruts

Some say it's what it sounds like when a band is about to break up, but I think that within the fighting and substance abuse and ego trippin, it's still a killer album.

The cover is very fitting, the album sounds like the cover art....dirty, gritty bluesy.

    Good call on ...Ruts

I've always been a big supporter of U2's POP - I think people dismiss it too quickly, and while it's no Joshua Tree or Achtung Baby there are some songs on there that could be U2 classics if people would give 'em a chance. "Please" is right up there just below songs like "Sunday Bloody Sunday" and "One" in it's message, "If God Will Send His Angels" and "Staring At The Sun" are good for the fans of slow songs, while "Gone" and "Last Night On Earth" shine in the "kick ass" department. "Mofo" is the funkiest thing they ever layed down and "Miami"'s only drawback is there wasn't a "Miami Vice" still on televison for it to be featured in. The weakest point is probably "If You Wear That Velvet Dress", probably only because Bono sings it in a low mumble - the song excels in live form. The rest of the tracks are at least servicable.

I think that the 2nd album from The Darkness is pretty damn good. My friends slammed it when it came out and still do, but I thought it was good. I took it out again last week and started listening to it again. Those dudes had potential. It's just a little off center ... which is what the music industry needs somtimes!

Steve Vai's Sex And Religion is Amazing. Devin Townsend is an awesome vocalist. Terry Bozzio kills the drums on that CD. Again, a bit off center for an album but excellent, and very artistic.

Eric Johnson's Venus Isle....Quite possibly the most beautiful guitar tones ever recorded IMHO. It's a mellow album and doesn't have the flair of Ah Via Musicom, but it is a totally beautiful piece of work. The guitar solos in "When The Sun Meets The Sky" and "Pavillion" are sweeeeeeeet. Eric Johnson plays the strat like is a saxophone. His 5 over 4 and 7 over 4 pentatonic runs are intoxicating.

Van Halen III .... if not for the debacle in 1996 and all that followed, that album may not have gotten the harsh criticism that it did. Most people including me were blinded by either the disappointment of Sammy leaving or Dave not truly coming back, OR BOTH. This overshadowed the album so badly that people listened with extensive negative bias. Having said that ... VHIII is no masterpiece, but it is not a turd in a punch bowl like 99% of everyone says that it is.

Motley Crue - Motley Crue ... John Carabi is a fantastic vocalist. The album tanked for 2 reasons.... 1. How can you follow up to Dr. Feelgood with a new singer and a CD that sounds nothing like the band the fans love? 2. The industry was killing off metal at that time. Enuff Said.
Having said that, this CD was ahead of it's time. Look how many bands took on that sound 6-10 years later once grunge got out of the way. That CD is produced amazing, and a lot of the material is great. Hooligans Holiday is wicked... the drum fill in the beginning of the song still makes my "fur rise". Misunderstood is cool to.

    Just my 2 cents. . . .
As usual, there is a great woman behind every idiot.

Great Radio Controversy - Tesla. Killer album from start to finish. Each tune has its' own sound yet the overall album captured Tesla's sound perfectly.

Love At First Sting - Scorpions. Next to Animal Magnetism and Blackout, excellent work from Klaus and co.

    Or maybe it's just me.

    Living Colour "Stain"

This album was too metal for metal in 1993. If you listen to it and think about what was out at the time...it was WAY ahead. That's why it bombed with the critics. They broke up shorty after but came back in 2003. I love STAIN. I used to listen to it when I played semi-pro baseball. It's an excellent blood-boiler!! Vernon Reid is freaking genious! You can see him starting to head towards his fusion influences on this album.
