EXODUS - BANG YOUR HEAD AS IF UP FROM THE DEAD!
Most of you bums are old enough to remember the days of great THRASH. Even the younglings these days are rediscovering this great genre of 80's music.
There were the so-called "Big 4". Metallica, Megadeth, Slayer and, Anthrax.
Though anyone in those bands and anyone in the know will tell you that EXODUS makes 5.
Exodus was founded by Gary Holt, Kirk Hammett and Tom Hunting in 1982 (In 1983 Kirk Hammet left the band to join METALLICA). Their first record "Bonded by Blood" released in 1985 is really great. Gary Holt writes guitar riffs that Hetfield would kill for.
Exodus went on through the years with some changes in line up but in 1996 reunited with original singer Paul Baloff (R.I.P.). A short lived reunion with a tour through Europe and North America and the release of their second live record "Another Lesson In Violence".
Here's a great vid I found from that tour. Good stuff. Excellent quality. I hadn't seen these guys for years and am psyched to hear how good they still sound here. I love these old songs.
So run and hide, or click the link and bang your head as if up from the dead.
Turn it up!
Bonded by Blood

Saw them open for Megadeth in 2004. I believe they had a new/temp. singer at the time. Good show.

Yeah they've got another singer replacing Paul Baloff since he died of a stroke in 2002. Rob Dukes I think.
Here's a nice tribute to Paul that I found on youtube from "Tales from the Pit".

Today I was thinking about all this "Big Four" stuff going on and how Exodus never got the respect they deserved (should be the "Big Five"). I thought to myself that Exodus gets no love. And then I was like "oh man Exodus; No Love",,, I haven't heard that song for at least 20 years.
And then I just found this...
omg f'ing amazing...
Gary Holt pwns any guitarist on that Big 4 tour. Kerry King admitted as much.

^ That was a good record. What's the tune with the guy talking about the salad at the start, about how he likes croutons and stuff? I like that song. Still makes me wish that Paul hadn't left after the first record though.
lol this is cool. Always loved his facial expressions when he's on the whammy...

Ultimate Revenge video...
We used to watch this video cassette nearly every day after school. "Ultimate Revenge" with Slayer, Venom, and Exodus. Early early stuff, when thrash was just taking off in the underground.
LOL at crowd footage at beginning.
This is great.
1985, Studio 54...
Wow I hadn't watched that in a long long time. Classic.

I believe the song you were refering to was called "Deranged". That was a real homeless guy that they found and recorded if my memory serves me right. I never appreciated PB until I got older and went back and listened. His voice took awhile for me but I ALWAYS loved "Phirana" that is what started my liking of Exodus. Gary did always make some cool facial expressions, rick too.

I remember that Studio 54 tape very well. I see that kind of stuff and it takes me back to a KILLER time in my life when I was a little "stoner dude" thrash head.

Exodus is going to be on the upcoming Metal Alliance Tour with Anthrax and a few other bands. I'll be seeing them in April in NYC. I hope Gary Holt is touring with the band again. According to Wikipedia, he had missed Exodus' summer 2012 tour while he was filling in for Jeff Hannemen in Slayer.

thrash till death!!
Thrash metal is one of my fav. styles of music when done right.Chicago had a great scene back in the 80's and those bands are still considered some of the best ever in the underground.
