Fantasy Baseball 2007

It's time to start thinking about Linkers Fantasy Baseball again. Last year we had two leagues with various people....linkers, friends etc. I think "League #1" (Beer Drinkers and Hell Raisers)is pretty much set in stone as far as the managers since most of us have been playing for 4 years or so. League 2 I will leave open for anyone who wants to join.

Billy and I have been talking about the stats for League 1. Here are the stat categories from last year: http://archive.fantasysports.yahoo.c...26279/settings

I am thinking of adding Walks for Batters and Pitchers and Losses for Pitchers. Also, I think I will drop Complete Game from the pitching stat to make Batters and Pitcher stats equal. If anyone has any comments or questions, type away.

As I mentioned via PM to Brew, I'd like to see something like this:

R, HR, RBI, SB, TB, AVG, - add K's & BB's

W, CG, SV, K, ERA, WHIP - add BB's & L's

I'd even look at something like dumping WHIP for BS (Blown Saves) or HR, or CG could be dropped in favour of one of those categories.

Having negative stats (L, BB, HR and/or BS) for pitchers especially would help make people think twice about playing the spot-start game (or whatever it's called)

Whatever, though - what - 47 days until spring training?

Brew, I agree that there should be some negative categories (in league #2 as well) for pitchers which would prevent people from having 20 SP's. I don't mind having walks for batters, but BB's allowed should definitely be for pitchers.

I'll be back to see if I can finish in 3rd for the 3rd year in a row.

I'd like to see us go back to the 2005 rules..
1. Replace HR's with BB's for hitters.
(No real need for HR stat when you have Total Bases.)
2. At least 2 DL spots
(We only had 1 last year).

We are definitely changing the DL spots. I am still thinking about keeping HR's, but will add BB's....
I started this early so we can get the league fine tuned.

Hey, is DonZilla coming back or can I get Shark in the league? Guitar Shark is a fantasy nut! He will surely be competitive. (nothing against DonZilla!)

DonZilla and Bonds Rules are fired up, (and already doing research) for the season.

Don assured me he downloaded the latest Java so he won't miss the live draft.

There are 4 managers that are not linkers. 2 are hellohawks friends (DonZilla and Bonds Rules)and 2 are my friends (Southside Hitmen and the Panic). Panic won the league last year and Southside Hitmen has been in the league since the beginning.

The other linker managers are my brother SUAPYG, Miah and whoever the Zoidbergs were (sorry I can't remember).

My two buddies are fine with changing a few things. Miah and Zoidbergs....you are up! Give your opinion.

...any more feedback? Getting time to start thinking about who to draft.

I was thinking it would be cool if you could set up a league to draft at the start of Spring Training, maybe 40 players, and then you have deadlines throughout Spring Training where you have to drop players until you get down to your opening day roster of 25. Probably be a lot of extra work so don't know if anyone would ever do it, but still it'd be interesting to see how it would turn out!

I will post the stats this Thursday. Not much more feedback from southside hitmen and Panic...they just want to play.

It would be cool to do the 40 player rosters, but I do not know of a site that would allow us to do that...for free anyway. Yahoo is set up to do the basic league with just a few custom options. Whatever happened to "free".
