Default When You See The February Guitar World With Zakk Wylde On The Cover..

There's a sticker that says "Breaking Van Halen News!", you need to know that it's already been posted here already. It's a single page, single column about Ed, Al and Wolf jammin' and how they're just waiting on Dave.

They also promote their exclusive interview with the Edward for their next (March) issue.

Guitar World is a great magazine, obviously I already buy it and I reccommend it to tadpole-guitar players as well as veteran-types. Just priming the rest of you for next month's issue - WITH ED -and cluing you in about what's under the plastic wrap for this month.

    Happy Van Friggen New Year!!

    Happy New Year to all.

As for the rumored 2007 pseudo-CVH reunion, Eddie, no thanks.

I'm subscribed to both Guitar World and Guitar Player. I got them to stay up on players, gear, and transcriptions, as every week I have fifty-plus guitar students asking me about current stuff, and I'm starting to become an old guy now. (Plus both are a tax deduction.) In having casually read both now for a few years, I have to say Guitar World is limited and often a let-down. It's very geared toward metal players, the transcriptions are tab with rhythm only (no actual music), and there's so many damn type-os and grammatical mistakes in every issue (including the Editor-In-Chief's notes), it makes me wonder about the quality control from the people overseeing it.

    Anyway, just my observations.

I'm a Guitar Player guy from way back (the Ace Frehley cover in 1978), yes, over-all GP has the widest spectrum of pure guitar features of any publication. Guitar World has always been metal-centric since day one, they've offered transcriptions to "Crazy Train" almost 35 times over the years.
They also offer a CD-Rom, as do others, that's always worth a look.

At this point, I know what I'm looking for as far as tips and technique so I find myself cherry-picking the guitar magazines each month.

The purpose of this thread is to let VH fans, who are going to see this on the news stands, let them know what the deal is so they don't feel they have to grab this issue. That's all.

To make a long story short, especially for the newbies, NO magazine will ever upstage us in terms of VH news. U get ur VH news at vhlinks FIRST, a few days later you'll here about it on the radio, then a month later it'll show up in a magazine.

And about two years later on the official web site.

That's only if they "fast track" it.

Even as a drummer, I've really enjoyed Guitar World over the years.

I don't know that links holds a monopoly on breaking VH news stuff first... there's a handful of VH/DLR sites that grab the scoops and we all share pretty liberally.

In this day and age, a magazine promoting "Breaking News" is funny as shit...
