Cool find. Never heard it either. Just don't care for Cherone's voice.

this could have been a better song than many of the III album.

I'm glad VH never released the song. Gary sounds terrible on it.

TWILY was the song Ed and Gary demo-ed through the mail before Gary's audition. They pulled it in favor of "Josephina" for the III album. They were working on a new version of it for the second album with Gary.

I like this song and I was really looking forward to the follow-up release with Cherone. I still think they should have stuck with Cherone and reinvented the band and gone in a new direction, maybe called it something else besides Van Halen. I would have preferred that to the mess with Hagar in 04.

I wouldn't have minded a second Cherone release either, just to see what exactly they were doing in '99. They brought in a couple of excellent producers (Patrick Leonard and Danny Kortchmar) and had finished some material. I'm surprised more folks around here don't bring up the question of WHY Cherone left VH. It's a pretty good guess he wanted to exercise more creative involvement in the writing process, but who knows for sure?

    Which thankfully never came.

While this song is as forgettable as everything else with Cherone, I will say it's better that nearly everything that made it to VH3.

VH with Dave ('78-'84) - The best years....the "real" VH.
VH with Sam ('86-'96) - Incredible era....."We have renamed this town 'New Halen!'.
VH with Gary ('98) - Fucking disaster. WTF was that??
VH with Wolf/Dave ('12-'15) - Amazing comeback. Smokin' album and tours.

    SOME VH LINKS CLASSICS

"Sammy is fat, Dave is bald, Mike is next in line to be the Pope, Eddie is a drunk, Wolfie is fat, Gary is gay, CVH is VH, Mike is VH, Sammy can outsing Dave on a tequilla hangover, Eddie is a meth head, How Many Say I is the worst VH song ever, Up for Breakfast is a close second, Dave was horrible at radio and everybody hates the assless chaps.
Ok I think that covers everything." Ziggysmalls

"I sense that some of our newer passengers may be nervous due to the sudden turbulence. Please be seated, this is simply a normal part of the periodic ride.
I didn't say we'll get to the destination, but until Alex comes out a says what a complete waste of carbon DLR is, we're still climbing, so strap yourselves in.
Those of you who have been on this ride before, the hottie in the mini will be around shortly with your drinks......." Red
