Did U2 watch Sam I Am?
Using archival elements in a current song, and then trying to get the archival footage synced up to the words. Seems similar to Sam I Am. Come on U2! I would have done it for you if you had asked.
P.S. I love that the band can be seen in the crowd watching the performers.

PPS:The second or third shot in the video is Frank Zappa. Stupid trivia fact from my early years in Hollywood.....I worked on a talk show that had Frank as a guest. It was low low budget, and they didn't have a car(limo) to take him home to his house in the Hollywood Hills. As the lowly Production Assistant on the shoot, I got the pleasure of driving him home in my tiny tin can of a car (Suzuki Samari). Scared shitless to have him in there, I missed his turn off on the Hollywood freeway twice. Finally got him home. Can't even remember what I talked to him about.
Should have pitched him the Long Road to Valley Girl!

The post doesn't make sense unless you have seen the Sam I Am music video and also the new U2 video "Window in the Skies".
They both had the same idea...taking old archival video and syncing it up with a current song to make the archival footage appear to be "singing along".
Another link to view U2:
Sorry about double posting sites. I always expect there are two groups of viewers, not one watching both sites.
Also the Frank Zappa name dropping is just an "old fart" telling "remember when I was young" stories.
Thanks,

U2 really knows how to keep the fire going, with their music and fans.

That U2 video was brilliant!! In an age when it seems every idea has been done to death a thousand times over they outdid themselves with that one. That thing better win some awards. Fantastic creativity.

Agree with most of this. Plant really just stood there and sang. Same with Daltrey. Morrison didn't know where he was most of the time, he wasn't a great frontman at all, IMO. Not even a great...
