So I'm watching "Twister" because it's Sunday and I have the mental agility of a stoned ferret (damn you Stella Artois) and was wondering how many here have experienced tornados.

We have very few in the UK and they are generally very small (a recent one in London wrecked a few streets though) but I know the big daddies live in the Mid-west US.

    Any stories?

Last December we had one all but destroy 2 rather big businesses (for a rural part of the state anyway). Strange we had one in December. I remember onces in 2nd grade, I gues 1989, we had a small one at our school that basically lifted a house trailer up and spun it all the way around and sat it back down where it was.

well in april of 1998 we had one come thru downtown nashville that was an f-2 and i was about three blocks away from it and i got to tell it was one of the most awesome things i have ever seen(but did'nt hear the tigers growl like in the movie)and when i was 3 we had one pass behind our house in the great outbreak of 1974,174 tornadoes that night i think
I used to wonder why he was grinning all the time(Michael Ian Black talkin about EVH on VH1 I love the 80's) but then i realized the reason he's grinning is because he's Eddie F*#king Van Halen

I have lived in the states of Nebraska and Kansas for a combined 18 years of my life and experienced far too many tornado's.

In one instance in Nebraska the spotters had them call our house to tell us that there was one headed right for the house, so we all hit the storm cellar. Later on we discovered that it had lifted and went right over the top of the house then come back down to the ground after it had passed over us.

In this area from late March/Early April through May, keeping an eye on things is a must as conditions are right almost every day/night for a tornado's.

My sisters ex-inlaws house was completely destroyed by a tornado that eventually wiped out a nice little chunk of Parsons, KS.

I have a page on my website with some pictures of a tornado that hit Independence, KS. last year. There is also a little video I made with the pictures. The music is quite excellent!

I've been stuck in tornados twice, both times while camping.

The first time was in the 80s at Wisconsin Dells. A tornado lifted right before it would of hit a campground we were staying in. It was in the middle of the night, and no one really knew what happened until the next morning.

The second time was in the late 80s in downstate Illinois, near Springfield. A tornado just missed the campground we were in, passing through a field across the street. We never saw the tornado directly, but we did feel the wind. It had to of been upwards of 70-80 miles an hour. We were all huddled in a van (I know, not the safest place) and the van was rocking back and forth really bad. I was scared out of my mind for a while there.

I love tornados and I am facinated by them. I would love to chase them someday. I've read about tornado chasing vacations, and I think that would be really cool thing to try.

Ohio has had it's share and back in the early 70's, there was a slew of tornados one night that pretty much wiped out the town of Xenia. That same night, we were coming back from my grandma's house and could barely get the car doors open to get inside and into the basement. The next morning, we found our rather large above ground swimming pool which had been full of water wrapped out the light pole which stood beside it.

I was working in Emporia, KS in the late 80's. A tornado came through the parking lot of the place I worked, and blew the windows out of most of the cars, moving some (mine was spared, fortunately). We were inside the building (which was part of a strip mall).

The gas station across the street was leveled.

By the way, you have a hangover so you decide to watch something quiet, like Twister? Nothing like tornadoes in Surround Sound to help with that headache .
Don't drink the Jim Jones punch. They're called theToxic Twins for a reason...
