glenn,

i couldn't agree more. fucking classic. hilarious. i especially like when Al says "And we don't mean no coffee cup either, motherfucker" after Ed says his classic quote.
ed(to dave): "you ever speak to me like that again, you better be wearing a cup."<br /><br />al: "and we don't mean no coffee cup, motherfucker!"

dlr looks cooler now than at the vma

for once even MA was dressed cooler

other than that, was there anything wrong about what DLR did during the vma? LeadSingerD? where?

and did EVH say somethin' about videoclips for the new songs with DLR (in the interview afterwards)? man, this guy doesn't know shit about what's going on with his own band. why put some more oil on the fire, when it's all about "baby-steps", anway?

    quite sad

    cheers

    to glenn,

yeah, i agree, DLR's haircut too is rather ridiculous. and his smile ... yeah, it really was like: i'm back, i'm back, i can't believe it myself ... like a little boy who found his long-lost favorite toy again.

but, he didn't say anything wrong or behave in egocentric way ... not at all ... at least not during the VMA. well, that's just my humble opinion anyway. in 1996 i really felt great seeing them again together. to be honest, it was something i didn't even wait for anymore ... the timing for the reunion would have been perfect, MWM and CGTSNM were 2 great songs to promote ... but we all know what happened.

    quite a shame,

    cheers,

    SToRM

I remember watching the VMA's that night and watching them walk out together onstage. I don't remember if they had some kind of hint on a commercial for it or what but there must have been some reason for me tuning in that night since I haven't given a shit about MTV for about 10 years now. It was really wierd... I was playing guitar while watching the show and had the Diver Down album on at low volume and then they came out. I couldn't believe it - I thought it was gonna be great and then all that shit happened... What a waste.

Every time I watch that video, I get chills. What a proud moment for an Old School Van Halen fan. To see Dave and the boys togethor again on stage.

I was so happy for Dave and the band, that smile was glued on his face. Dave, Mike, and Al all seemed happy; Eddie on the other hand seemed real uneasy about things.

Then the interview with him and Alex on the couch. From there, it has been all downhill for the band.

    Coffee cup anyone ?

Man, I remember watching MTV News one night seeing that couch interview. Thank god we didn't have the internet presence we have now back then, or those two years from '96-'98 would have been hell on us all.

Just because you didn't find it doesn't mean it wasn't there, Stuffy.

I WAS there in 1996 when the Keepers put up Slawtwerhouse in protest to the reunion scam, and when what was supposed to be the WB pro VDIII site became the official ANTI VDIII site, courtesy of Yours Truly and other true Van HALEN fans. Hell even a few Hagar heads joined in, as Sammy got shafted too.

And yeah, it was HELL at times.

    Welcome back, Van HALEN!!!!
