VH with Wolfgang: Testing the waters?

Could this whole supposed tour in '07 be VH taking "baby steps" before a full-fledged reunion somewhere down the line?

This might simply be a test for the VH bros. and DLR to see if they can tolerate each other on tour and to see if people are still interested.

Maybe there's too much red-tape involved to mount a full scale Classic VH reunion right now.

If that's the case, for a band to be inactive and crushed under it's own baggage for this long maybe deserves a little time to get the machine humming again.

Besides, if DLR can get back in after decades of animosity, I can't see why Michael couldn't.

Well, they'll be, what -- 70-ish after the requisite 20 years of animosity? Maybe a CVH reunion then could interest some on the bar circuit.

    Buncha old foggies!

On second thought, I'd pay for that. Can't you hear the "Ohh, Baby, Baby!" in the Dance the Night Away song sang in the typical old fart voices? Eddie will be totally toothless then too.

If they do this 3/4 reunion with Dave, there won't be another "down the line". VH has had enough chances to do this reunion. VH has only one chance to do this right. That is the point of a reunion tour... not to do a warm up... then do it for real. Plus what are they gonna do... Ed, Al, Wolfie and Dave will tour as VH this year... then maybe 2 years from now Mikey will come back and it will be a FULL FLEDGED reunion? That would be an embarassment. Fans have waited 23 years for this reunion... this is there only chance. VH should either be a working band and not keep just doing reunion tours.

Sadly, VH seems to be heading down the same road that CCR is at now. CCR is now CCR Revisited, or some shit like that. I think there are only 2 of the orginal members of CCR, in the band.

I think ego's are gonna clash between Dave and Ed, and this tour will pretty much end up like the last one did.

The only test VH needs to take is that ED needs to test himself, and see if he can get out of the fucking bottle.....again. Until Ed dries up, VH will continue to spiral down into the abyss.

    REMEMBER THIS AIN'T 1984 anymore.

Yeah, the only 2 guys who had nothing to do with writing the songs

Funny, I saw John Fogerty in 2005 and playing on the other side of town that night was CCR Revisited. i can't believe he didn't take a cheap shot at them that night

Wish they'd quit calling it a CVH reunion b/c it's not.

    who is they?

call it whatever you want to. it's edward vh, alex vh, wvh and david lee roth in 07. I haven't heard any media entity call any of this cvh. am I wrong? have you?
If eddie were down and out on a sidewalk playing guitar I'd be next to him with a bottle and a blanky braving the cold. I would be sucking my thumb happily making chupa chupa noises in sync with the petroglyphic sounds that came from the mighty finger tips of Edward Van Halen.

This tour will be no better than the Van Halen III tour for me. That's the only time I've seen the band live & when I was watching Gary, I just kept wishing it was Dave.

It'd be the same again for me with Van Halen IV, sure Dave would be there, but I'd see Wlfgang & think of Mike.

I don't want to be disappointed again...
“And what we have at our fingertips is arguably one of the greatest high tenor voices ever – that was in Michael Anthony. In our tiny little corner of the universe, that voice is as identifiable as the high voice in Earth, Wind & Fire, as identifiable as the high voice in the Beach Boys. Van Halen is an indelicate house blend of both – that’s intentionally. So I would always look forward to that reunion.” - David Lee Roth

I enjoyed the III tour shows I saw because it seemed the band knew they had to sell it, they dug into the older catalog, and they were playing really well. Sometimes, however, it was very hard to look past Gary's Mercury-wannabe dance moves and bark-growl vocal style. When DLR quit I was too young (10) to really understand what all was going on, and I accepted Sammy pretty fast. During the III shows I had a good feeling of what it must have been like for diehard CVH fans during the 5150 tour. It definitely felt like something was "missing," even though the band (not so much Gary) sounded good.
