Roth's Motives???

I haven't seen much discussion about this... but, what do you guys think are Roth's TRUE motives in wanting this reunion?

He says it's about "closure", but I don't buy this at all... he sounded so fake and hollow to me when I heard him discuss that on the radio show and in TV interviews.

It's either got to be the MONEY or the fact he feels his career as a solo artist is 100% beyond rescue... I feel it's the career issue more, the money is sweet, but since Roth is such an ego maniac he must be hurting after the last 10 years of mediocrity... this guy is just looking for a way to get back to the "big stages" and get attention I would think.

He sees Eddie's health as fading and he must be desparate to a degree...

Roths #1 priority???? a larger number of skanks to choose from on a VH tour vs. a solo Roth tour. It is not the money, isn't he worth something like 55 million?? It is the desire for all eyes on him on a large scale format a classic VH reunion would bring. It's about the groupies and trying to relive the "glory days".

Spotlight for sure, David doesn't likely need the money, and the "closure" excuse is a joke. I'd love to see it if and only if it's the original four, but I'd say he just wants attention.

The devil you say. No way would Dave lower himself to $am's level. Not a chance in hell. Well...not a chance in heck.

At least Sam refused to go out without Mike.

One can only wonder if Dave will exhibit the same caliber of honor.

Was gonna do my first "FREE POST" but I'll squack instead. Love him or hate him, It's first & foremost: Van Halen IS what personifies David Lee Roth. Ed knows it, and he knows that the fans know it....It's just too bad that Ed knows SO MUCH about music, and so little about his own band's history/legacy, whatever, with Mike. If they were gonna fire his ass, why wait til the REAL reunion instead of Borefest '04? Done.

I agree. I figure they all have plenty of money. I just think as time has gone by DLR realizes how great the classic Van Halen really was and probably that he made a big mistake by leaving, even though he says it was never his intention to leave permanantly. In my opinion neither Dave or Van Halen were ever as great as they were together. Who wouldnt want to have all the fame, money and whore's again?
