On you tube...said it was from "pre production"???

Now i aint the foremost authority on Van halen linked song
authentication...But...Isnt it just "Drop dead legs" played with some
fill ins?? Drums don't sound like Alex and i think there appears to be
alot of reverb on guitar which i don't think Eddie uses that much??

Anyone else hear this thing on You Tube yet?

I *really* doubt this is VH for several reasons:

Drums don't sound right.
Guitar riffs sound VH-inspired but a little too simple for Eddie.
How would a track leak from Eddie's home studio.

I call this one highly doubtful.

I hear why it didn't make the album. The riffs are cool, but Sam's melody and lyrics fall short. There's also no background vocals. Is it possible this one just simply wasn't finished?

That's exactly it, it wasn't finished. Most of the stuff on the "Dawn of 5150" demo disc is unfinished.

...this riff HAS been played live at least once after the 5150 sessions were completed...any guesses as to the when and where?...

Have to agree with you on that one. I posted somewhere else, that it sounds like a Robert Palmer song. Sammy even sings a line similar from a Palmer song in IWSA.
