Why do we have pubic hair?

Why do we have pubic hair? Whats the point? It does not do anything, it does not act as a protection device, it does not feel good.
Its not like its there to keep our genitals warm.

Why are women all of the sudden shaving it bald? What happened to the 70's big giant bush? I have come across a few women that shave it all. Anyone here shave it?

Anyone have any thoughts.

During the evolutionary process, early man didn't have a lot of clothing so body hair evolved into a protection device of sorts.
I've also read that it served a sexual purpose as well in regards to pheremones and such.

All I know is that when you're down on the muffin, it's a lot nicer not to get hair stuck in your teeth.
