the Christmas music thread
Shinedown covered John Lennon's "So this is Christmas". I gotta say, I'm not really impressed. In fact, I think it's really pretty aweful. I hate when bands fuck with classics like that... And not liking Shinedown doesn't help matters either....
Along those lines, what are some of your favorite Christmas songs?
I really like the classics. Bing Crosby, Vince Geraldi and, of course, Stryper's "Winter Wonderland".Last edited by Ace Ventura; 12.08.06 at 01:34 PM. Reason: forgot to ask favorite x-mas tunes

Haven't heard it, but I wouldn't be surprised if it sucks. IMO, they're pretty lame. If you're looking for a good cover of that tune, check out Melissa Ethteridge's.
While I'm at it, IMO Bing Crosby and David Bowie's Little Drummer Boy is the weirdest, best Christmas tune ever and Twisted Sister's latest, A Twisted Christmas, rocks!http://www.myspace.com/pennydreadfulnj

oh yeah, I had forgotten about the Etheridge cover. It's a good one.
In the Wick household, the two mainstay CD's are "Beach Boys Christmas" Elvis "Blue Christmas."
Santa Claus is comin to town by Springsteen is my alltime favorite version of a Christmas tune. It's one of the few Christmas tunes that doesn't turn my stomach if I hear it prior to Dec 23rd.Don't drink the Jim Jones punch. They're called theToxic Twins for a reason...

Merry Christmas
I am taking this song to ASCAP on Music Row, hope to have it cut by a signed artist next Christmas.
MERRY CHRISTMAS
http://jimcolyer.com/@tracks/128/hifi.mp3
We got so many presents under the Christmas tree
Santa Claus has been good to you and me
As you steal a kiss under the mistletoe
MERRY CHRISTMAS to you
We got turkey and dressing smothered in cranberry sauce
We got honeybaked ham and a bottle of wine of course
In the candlelight, I propose this toast
MERRY CHRISTMAS to you
Snow is falling, friends are calling
The neighborhood's dressed in white
Bells are ringing, the choir is singing
Their version of "Silent Night"
We won't forget the real meaning of this day
The day on which our Savior was born
It's Jesus Christ on my Christmas card
MERRY CHRISTMAS to you
solo
Snow is falling, friends are calling
The neighborhood's dressed in white
Bells are ringing, the choir is singing
Their version of "Silent Night"
We won't forget the real meaning of this day
The day on which our Savior was born
It's Jesus Christ on my Christmas card
Merry Christmas to you
Merry Christmas to you

Putting together some Christmas CDs. Need some suggestions for songs to add.
I few years ago I put together a couple of CDs with some of my favorite Christmas tunes on them. Now this isnt your standard group of Christmas songs though. Below is a sample list of some of the stuff I have on there.
Blink 182 - I wont Be Home For Christmas
Cartman - Oh Holy Night
John Lennon - So This Is Christmas
Pearl Jam - Let Me Sleep (Its Christmas Time)
Band Aid - Feed The World
Red Peters - Holy Sh*t Its Christmas
The Bosstones - Sure Dont Feel Like Christmas Time
Tori Amos - Have Yourself A Merry Little Christmas
Cheech & Chong - Santa And His Old Lady
No Doubt - Oy To The World
The Ramones - Merry Christmas (I Dont Want To Fight)
TVTV - Daddy Drank All Our Christmas Money
Satan - Christmas Time In Hell
Everclear - I will Be Hating You For Christmas
Bob & Doug McKenzie - 12 Days Of Christmas
and so on............
As you can see it is all over the place. I wanted to make a up to date Christmas CD and it turned into two CDs. I have alot more songs on it then what I have listed. I thought I would add more to the collection being I have a iPod now.
So I am asking any of you linkers out there for your input on songs to add and to maybe have fun with the whole thing.

Though I also love the Greg Lake song, you can't have a Christmas album without:
Father Christmas - The Kinks
Is That You, Santa Claus? - Buster Poindexter
And what about Adam Sandler's Chanukkah song (has a DLR mention)?

And naturally, the greatest Christmas tune of all time:
Porky Pig (originally Simon Squealer)- "Blue Christmas" (2:05)

You HAVE TO have "The Little Drummer Boy" - Bing Crosby & David Bowie. Unlikely pairing, but a great cover.

Merry Fucking Christmas by Denis Leary. The X-Mas song I'll be listening to all X-mas. Might not be the best song if your going to play this with little kids![]()
A recent study shows 92% of the teenage population likes rap music. If you are part of the 8% who listen to real music, put this as your sig.
