Former Porn Actress Wants Teaching Job Back...

PADUCAH, Ky. -- A former porn actress feels she still has something to teach kids.

Tericka Dye was suspended and then not rehired by a western Kentucky school district after officials learned she used to perform in a series of X-rated films a decade ago. Dye is reapplying for her job as a science teacher at Reidland High School.

She said she screwed up "royally" a decade ago, when she was stripping and starring in pornos. Dye said everybody deserves a second chance and she worked for hers.

District officials said Dye's past as an X-rated actress could prove disruptive in the classroom. Dye is a mother of four now and said she needs the teaching job to support her kids.


She was suspended with pay after she admitted appearing in adult films. She said she was working as an exotic dancer at the time and desperately needed money.

The case drew national attention after Dye appeared on television with Dr. Phil McGraw.

The mother of four said she has not found work since leaving the school and has been living off child support payments.

Porn's not a classy gig, but she shouldn't lose her job over it. She isn't currently filming porn at the school, so what does it matter? And how would it have been that disruptive before the whole thing was brought to light by her firing? Maybe a number of students knew about it, but still.

As a side note, in high school, some friends of mine had an English teacher who was nude in Playboy. The school officials knew and didn't care.

Imagine my surprise when I found one of my former soldiers from my airborne unit at Ft Bragg in the news! Anyone bother to point out that, technically speaking, any high school student under the age of 18 should not legally be in possession of pornographic materials? Obviously, kids are gonna get porn one way or another (Lord knows I had a stack stashed under my mattress), but maybe pointing this out could get people to call off their dogs a little.

I feel sorry for this lady, but then again, I'm a teacher, so I might be a little biased.
