Wolfgang EXP vs Axis vs HP Special

Hi.

I own a Peavey Wolfgang EXP (Korean) guitar, but was thinking of trading it in for either an Ernie Ball Axis or the new Peavey HP Special.

I have done some comparisons of my own and read reviews.

Just wondering what anyone else thinks about the is idea of mine.

Just so you know, for some reason, both guitar stores I went to, the guitar sales dude said even for my Korean Wolfie, it would only be a lateral move to either the Axis or HP Special. (seems I have a real great sounding and built Korean Wolfie).

So, again, any of your thought's will be great!!!!!

The dudes at those two stores are retarded! Buy the Axis and you will soon find you hated the exp all along! I haven't played the HP but, I assume it is very similar to the Wolfgang standard, not that that's a bad thing.

Music Man guitars are the way to go.

both the axis and HP special will be a nice upgrade from the EXP.

Do it. Play the HP Special and the Axis a lot, and make a decision between the two. They are superior guitars.

You'll notice that most people on this board tend to be anti-Wolfgang. Especially the EXP. I've had an amber quilt for a few years and it's nice and broken in and is very fine guitar. I've just sanded the neck a little bit for an unfinished feel. Plus, I think the Wolfies are nicer looking. I am suprised they'd trade you straight up though. The EBMM and the HP' s are a lot more expensive than the Korean Wolfies. That's because they're made in U.S.A. so they can charge an arm and a leg for them. But they're all pretty similar. Do what Mcfly said. But just because something costs more, doesn't mean you'll like it more. It's all about preference.

Indeed you've got to play them to know what you like. I'm a Wolfgang nut; I own 18 now. I don't own an EXP, however, mostly because every one I ever played fell short for me--tone and feel. Everyone is raving about the HP Special; it's got a few more options than the Wolfgang (none that I care for, personally), but the price has gone up now since production began. Ernie Ball has and continues to build excellent guitars.
