VH not top billing??
I believe I remember reading on this website after the 2000 reunion fell apart that Jon Bon Jovi said ( It's too bad that the VH reunion did not happen. They were suppose to OPEN UP for us on our next tour) Do any of you remember that? It was posted here. What I'm trying to say is, with Wolfie on bass, perhaps no new material being released, and the chance it could all fall apart on a dime. i could see VH getting second billing or being part of a multi-band tour at least in the beginning see what I'm trying to say? If they were going to get second billing to Bon jovi back in 2000 why not 7 years later with the reasons given above. Thoughts??

Was that true about them opening for Bon Jovi? Never heard that one.
Don't see how Edward would agree to open for anyone. imo they are way
beyond that shit. Any form of VH is beyond that shit.Co-headline maybe,
maybe, but i doubt that too. Way too many songs in their catalog to be
an opening act.Utilize. Improvise. Adapt. Overcome.

I don't remember that at all. Seems unlikely Dave or Ed would submit an official reunion outing to a Bon Jovi opener slot on a continental US tour, whether in 2000 or 2007.
They barely accepted that status in Europe with Sam on the Balance tour as it was, and only 'cause they had to.
But to answer your question....I seriously doubt Dave will relegate his return to the stage with the Van Halen family as his backup band to anything less than full spotlight. Second billing, no chance. Multi-act lineup, it's hard to believe promoters will give them headliner pole position with a 16 year old kid on bass, even with Uncle Dave supervising.

Opening for Bon Jovi is something that happened in the past---in Europe---where BJ was evidently more popular than VH, I guess pop rock goes internantional a little easier than straight ahead no frills ass kickin' (inject a long list of adjectives here) Rock n' Roll. But don't feel so bad (hell, this may make you feel worse), saw BJ open for Ratt New Years '86 at the San Diego Sports Arena. (Up in the 'bleeds, about 18 bux) :P

Well, if it was posted here, it MUST be true!!!
J/K, I don't think it's very reasonable to assume that 'tour slot' talks were underway, at the PROSPECT of a CVH reunion... (when all they had were a couple of "crappy demos"). Beyond that, a CVH Reunion wouldn't (financially) NEED Bon Jovi. Promoters would see that.
They didn't need Bon Jovi in 2004, either.Sings like a bird. Rocks like a pig.

They did open for BJ in Europe...but it was a full set.
Actually I think most of us are Dave, Sam, and Mike fans. There's just a small group of people who have strange allegiances and like to get into petty pissing contests that I can't believe everyone on this site isn't bored of. - Brett

Well Kiss did open for Aerosmith last year and they have a pretty extensive catalog as well.I just have a feeling we are going to get a multi-band tour. Of course I could be wrong

i can't imagine VH opening for anyone in North America. When they toured with Gary they played big venues.
If Dave returns to the fold I believe the opening act isn't even a thought. Do you honestly think Dave and Ed will tolerate each other to be an opening act? This "reunion" only comes off if it's gonna be a cash cow. I'm talking about taking care of the next 4 generations, and opening for anyone ain't gonna bring in that kind of dough.

There is zero chance of Ed,Al, and Dave regrouping for the first time in 23 years and opening for someone else--even with Wolfgang Puck on bass guitar.

To be completely honest, what has VH done recently to earn a top billing? A band like Bon Jovi has earned top billing via international success. Van Halen could've easily been a top band like they were for the U.S. Festival, but they completely imploded.

What have they done? They are the MIGHTY VH! What have you done for me lately? I think CVH won't need to open for anybody. Bon Jovi "earning" international success leaves me feeling hollow. It is the same feeling I get when I realize Britney Spears has international success. VH in 04' played arenas. That was 2 years ago. If a tour happens with Dave and real promotion goes on it will be as a headlining act. Shit it will still do well! Kiss didn't do anything major in 10 years when they put the makeup on and reunited in 1996. I remember their opening show in Detroit sold out in 10 minutes.
