backing vocalist??!
ok so we all know who we'd like to see on stage with vh singing backing vocals and playing bass, but lets face it it doesnt look as if its gonna happen.
so i was thinking being as we've had the idea of a female lead singer wouldn't it be fun if we had a list of possible "backing" vocalists that could sing while ed, al, dave and wolfie do their thing.
i kinda like the sound of the backing vocals on this tune. maybe a little soft for vh but lets have some ideas people.
and please no bashing of members or former members please this is supposed to be a fun thread.

I don't want to hear/see anyone other than Michael Anthony & Edward Van Halen providing backing vocals for Van Halen...
“And what we have at our fingertips is arguably one of the greatest high tenor voices ever – that was in Michael Anthony. In our tiny little corner of the universe, that voice is as identifiable as the high voice in Earth, Wind & Fire, as identifiable as the high voice in the Beach Boys. Van Halen is an indelicate house blend of both – that’s intentionally. So I would always look forward to that reunion.” - David Lee Roth
David Lee Roth, Edward Van Halen, Michael Anthony, Alex Van Halen, Sammy Hagar.

Why not have Sammy Hagar stand behind the curtain and harmonize? If we're really lucky he'd talk Mike into doing it as well and VH would be set! Maybe Ed could give each of them a $1,000 a show and it'll all be cool!

SOME VH LINKS CLASSICS
"Sammy is fat, Dave is bald, Mike is next in line to be the Pope, Eddie is a drunk, Wolfie is fat, Gary is gay, CVH is VH, Mike is VH, Sammy can outsing Dave on a tequilla hangover, Eddie is a meth head, How Many Say I is the worst VH song ever, Up for Breakfast is a close second, Dave was horrible at radio and everybody hates the assless chaps.
Ok I think that covers everything." Ziggysmalls
"I sense that some of our newer passengers may be nervous due to the sudden turbulence. Please be seated, this is simply a normal part of the periodic ride.
I didn't say we'll get to the destination, but until Alex comes out a says what a complete waste of carbon DLR is, we're still climbing, so strap yourselves in.
Those of you who have been on this ride before, the hottie in the mini will be around shortly with your drinks......." Red

As the original poster stated, we all would love to see Mike...but to go to the original question of if Mike isn't there...I really wouldn't care who did the backing vocals, as long as they were good. Hell, the Stones have been doing it for years....tons of backing vocalists, tons of backing musicians....and nobody doubts that they are a real band, or calls them RSII, or RSVIII or whatever. Hell, the Stones practically, not even practically, they HAVE an entire band, backing their band....including vocalists....so why is it so different with VH??
Get over it folks, if you want to see the Dave tour, see it, if not, then don't! They are going to make their money regardless of you or I being in attendance. The Stones have been through how many members??? Think any hardcore Stones fans hated to see BW move on?? Sure they did....guess what...the machine moves on, and still makes the coin and keeps the old fellas' happy enough to keep on playing. I pesonally don't care, I won't be there untill I see a sober, and bright eyed EVH, like the guy I remember back in the day....a guy like this....

I couldn't agree more. Not only does Mike add some charisma to the stage, the background vocals can't be duplicated with just Eddie "How Many Say I" Van Halen. It will be interesting to see what happens, if/when Mike is officially axed, which I won't believe until someone else actually takes the stage.

Mr. How Many Say I doesn't have the pipes, neither is AVH a Phil Collins. So, if there's No MA (No CVH), VH version IV will probably follow the footsteps of those over-the-hill bands who get an acappella to help.
Or maybe they'll hire Toto, REO Speedwagon, etc.DLR, circa 2001:
"Hey this is David Lee Roth and I promised you the news and here's the news.
About a year ago myself and the great Van Halen band played together once or twice and it sounded amazing!
In the following several months Edward and I, Edward Van Halen and me, David Lee Roth, created some of the most amazing, phenomenal - the hands fell off the clock ladies and gentleman and we wrote three astonishing tunes.
That was last July (2000) and since then I haven't been up to the studio, we haven't really been in touch and we haven't made any music, but I am holding forth, I'm in the shape of my life and I got the high note - I'm ready to go.
And I am positive for the future ladies and gentleman.
Stay tuned and I'll tell you what the future brings..."

Eddie used to have a really good voice. Listen to any boot from 1974 - 1998 live. Just listen to the vox on Van Halen 3. The only song that Ed sucks on is t he one he sings lead. And he's not even that bad. Listen to Dirty Water Dog or One I want. Ed doesn't do too bad. Unfortunately, not so much anymore. Then again. Cancer.

i started this thread as a bit of fun, why does everyone just try to suck all the fun out of things on here?
personaly i would love to see all the original members up there but from the sound of things its not very likely, so i just thought this could be a fun subject.
so come on use your imaginations for a fun reason not just bitching about m.a. not being in vh or how u aint gonna go see them if he aint there, move on.http://www.facebook.com/Tommywho5150
