Default Van Halen: Second Cherone Working Titles

I just wondered if you guys knew of these, apparently the titles of some Cherone VH tunes that were going to be on the next album:

The working title was apparently "Love Again"

    Tracks:

    1. Left For Dead (eventual Tribe of Judah track)
    2. River Wide
    3. Say Uncle
    4. You Wear It Well
    5. More Then Yesterday
    6. I Don't Miss You....Much
    7. Love Divine
    8. From Here, Where Do We Go?

This info is on wikipedia if you search Van Halen. Anybody know anything about any of this or any track in particular?

Those were all posted to the VH website when it was active with updates on the "new album" progress. That was back in '99, of course. They completed two tracks with Patrick Leonard producing, and they had hired Danny Kortchmar with whom they were working when Cherone quit/was asked to leave. So there were definietly tracks that were done and probably some in progress. As per the usual, we will probably never hear them.

Certainly would be nice to have heard them. I guess that mystery is for another day.

I can't prove it, but I'd guess that EVH built the three new songs from BOBW from some of the "sections" from these Cherone tunes. I never believed the "10 albums of material" spin.

I remember being surprised the first time I heard the 25-song Warner Bros. demo and all the little recognizable pieces that later turned up on VH albums in completely different songs. So in a way, my guess is that we probably have heard a bit of those Cherone songs on BOBW and may hear more on other future releases. (try not to laugh too hard)

If you go to the link below and then click on the "new album" link at the top, there is a bit of info on some of the tracks.

    http://web.archive.org/web/199910130....com/main.html

You can also go to that same link, go to old news - then go to 1998 old news, and click on the 1/16/98 entry for the making of VH3. You will see a few of the tracks that were left off of VH3 at the bottom of the page.

'You Wear It Well' the band said at the time had an amazing tapping intro. Gary said that 'Left For Dead' had "one of the most up tempo songs" the band had done. And as you said, the song eventually wound up on Tribe Of Judah. 'Say Uncle' was said to be about "a dominant woman and willing, submissive man."

Here are some other tracks that were poised for the follow-up album:

    Rock And Roll Cliche
    I Want Her Anyway
That's Why I Love Ya (new version)
Bobby Cohn: Who's going to be at Waynestock?
Wayne Campbell: Um, uh...Aerosmith & Pearl Jam!
Garth Algar: Ha ha ha ha ho!
    Bobby: Who else?
    Garth: Uh, me...and...and Wayne...
    Wayne: ...and uh...VAN HALEN!!!
Garth: Wow. Van Halen. Who else?
    Bobby: Yeah, who else?
Wayne: Uh, an old man fashioning a kayak out of a log?

    - Wayne's World 2

"God gave men both a penis and a brain, but unfortunately not enough blood supply to run both at the same time." - Robin Williams

"Continuous effort - not strength or intelligence - is the key to unlocking our potential." - Winston Churchill

I like reading all these stuffs about the 2nd record from VH 3rd incarnation.
    Thanks for link, BB3000MA.

One doubt; wasn't it said that "Learning to See" is the song previously known as "Between Us Two / Closer to You"?

I think most everybody would. I was very interested to see what volume II of mach III would sound like. Let's hope someday, somebody gets a hold of this stuff and lets it out. From what I've read around here, it doesn't sound like to many of these songs were actually completed.
    SOME VH LINKS CLASSICS

"Sammy is fat, Dave is bald, Mike is next in line to be the Pope, Eddie is a drunk, Wolfie is fat, Gary is gay, CVH is VH, Mike is VH, Sammy can outsing Dave on a tequilla hangover, Eddie is a meth head, How Many Say I is the worst VH song ever, Up for Breakfast is a close second, Dave was horrible at radio and everybody hates the assless chaps.
Ok I think that covers everything." Ziggysmalls

"I sense that some of our newer passengers may be nervous due to the sudden turbulence. Please be seated, this is simply a normal part of the periodic ride.
I didn't say we'll get to the destination, but until Alex comes out a says what a complete waste of carbon DLR is, we're still climbing, so strap yourselves in.
Those of you who have been on this ride before, the hottie in the mini will be around shortly with your drinks......." Red

Just thought this was funny. In the web archive of old news there was this post:

Update 01/14/98: The Inside Track section of today's Boston Herald reports a host of ridiculous claims including Gary planning on leaving the band once III is released, Michael being fired, and Warner Bros. being unhappy with not only the first planned single Without You but the entire album.

Rest assured, 99% of the article is COMPLETELY UNTRUE. The only correct piece of information in the entire writeup is the new March 17 release date. Read the Reschedule report for all the details regarding III's rescheduling.

Funny how things turned out huh?

Left For Dead turned into a Tribe Of Judah song, i also think Celibate turned into a TOJ song (there´s a song on Exit Elvis named "Celibate"), "You Wear It Well" could be "Ambiguos Headdress" from Exit Elvis too since the sentence "You Wear It Well" leds the song all the way and "River Wide" ( "It's about a dominant woman and a willing, submissive man."Gary Cherone) could be "In My Dreams".

You can't prove it...but I agree. Up for Breakfast could have easily been on VH III. The chord changes...the sound. It's About Time as well.

It's more of Ed's music that we'll hear...not Cherone's songs. Cherone didn't write the guitar parts.
