A Mea Culpa Of Sorts

So I just came across Guitar101, and wow what a great selection of VH boots over there. Love the site.
I don't have much in the way of boots, so I start looking around there and mainly searching for stuff from the Dave era. Have some live Cherone and Hagar stuff, but very little Roth.
I gotta say, I ran into a couple of boots that were very impressive. One from 1977, and one from 1982 that sound pretty good. Not only did they sound good, but Roth sounded "good". I never knew he gave a decent performance (at least in my eyes) in his life. I know many other disagree. I was basing my opinion on Roth's live perfomances I've seen -- 1984 tour, US Festival, Skyscraper tour, ALAE tour, and Sam & Dave tour. Also the few performances I've seen of him on TV. I paid to see four of those shows and felt like I got ripped off every time I walked out (at least by Roth).
I'll just say it was pleasantly surprising to hear Roth at a much better level than I've ever imagined live, and being able to add some of those tracks to my collection.
I was wrong about one thing for sure -- Roth did indeed once "have it". I know there are some at this site that thinks he still "has it" or "has never lost it, and that's cool. I'm not looking to start a flame thread, just pointing out that when I'm wrong, I'm wrong.

Anybody that hasn't been to guitar101 should definitely check it out.

Guitars 101 kicks some serious ass!! I made a CD of 'Impulsive Balance" last night and its quality is amazing!!

It is great. And, if you haven't done it already pick up 316 Live 1992. It's a MUCH BETTER mix of the RHRN Live disc VH released. It sounds a ton better, IMO and also has some covers not included on RHRN.

If you love the VH boot section over at 101, you should send a "thank You" to our own SuckaInA3Piece. He used to help run that site and most of those boots were made available from his own extensive collection !
