    Default Guitar Hero 2

Didn't see a thread (and I actually used the "search" function, self High Five).

Anyway, I don't own this game but I've seen boatloads of commercials for it and one of them has You Really Got Me playing. It sounds as if it was re-recorded. The guitar "sound" seems a little different and Dave's vocal performance also seems different. My first thought was that Dave redid it with his touring band for the game, but I don't know. Even my wife says it sounds different and she's not music nerd like me.

Just seeing if anybody is "in the know" on this subject..........

all of the songs in the guitar hero video games have been re-recorded, none of them are by the original artists. Although some come pretty darn close.
    Peace,

Yea there were some songs on GH1 where I did not even realize that they were re-recorded until after playing the game again about one month later when my friend told me. Cream's Crossroads sounds pretty damn good. So does DP - Smoke on the Water.

been enjoying trying to master cowboys from hell on "I" this weekend. This game is very addictive. Can't wait to get II.

Well, whoever "did" Dave did it damn good; I thought it was a current Dave. Wierd.

How hard is the game? I never bought the first one but tried it out in the store. It seems fun, but might get frustrating. Let me know. I'm still considering getting it.

Someone let me know how "real" the guitar playing is...is it like playing guitar or is it like one of those: push the buttons when it lights up deal? In other words, is there an advantage if you already play guitar?
    Just go for it!

Not terribly realistic. You have five buttons on the low end of the neck that you push, as you said, "when it lights up." Kinda like Dance Dance Revolution, but with a guitar.
It IS extremely addictive and a blast to play. I am a guitarist, and I think that knowing how to play guitar is a little bit advantageous, in that you will already understand that higher notes are played higher up on the neck, and lower notes are lower. (Did that make sense?) Side note: My 12- and 10-year-olds love this game, and asked me to make them mix CDs of the songs on it. So, now my kids like Deep Purple, Queen, Judas Priest, Joan Jett, the Ramones, the Donnas, etc etc. BONUS!
Bottom line: Waaay fun and totally worth the slightly higher-than-normal price for the game. I'm definitely asking Santa for GH 2!
