Regarding "Thanksgiving"...
I'll be away from a PC over the holiday, so...
Well, it's that time of year here in the States. For many, it signifies the chaotic start of the Christmas shopping season and a few football games over the weekend. For others it means a tad more.
It can be used as a time to reflect on who and what we as individuals are thankful for.
For me, I'd list the relatives and neighbors that exist offline in my life (both of them ). I'd then list the many friends and lunatics that frequent this particular website as something I'm indeed thankful for, also. Thanks for making me feel worthwhile when I truly needed it. (I won't bother with the humiliating and tedious practice of listing each screen name, mainly because I hate those type of threads and somebody would accidentally be left out. Nobody deserves to feel slighted at this time of year. Through PM's and posts, you all know who you are.)
Since by brother and father decided to leave us two years in a row at this precise time of year, Thanksgiving carries "way too much" much emotional heft in our house. (It sucks is what I'm getting at.)
Without getting maudlin, I'd like to wish all of the Linkers and their families well at this time of year. I will not stoop to the "always current and myopic American foriegn policy" line of thinking and assume that the entire world does (or should) celebrate our holiday, so I'll simply wish peace to everyone, wish that each of you would hold those you love close to you, and that you each be truly thankful for their presence in your life not just this coming Thursday, yet everyday.
That's it. Be well.

All the best to you Chef and to all of my neighbours to the south! There are a lot of things to be thankful for in regards to Canada's relationship with the U.S. but on this one day of the year in particular I am thankful for a second opportunity to enjoy a turkey dinner and to take a day off work (don't tell my boss) to watch football! Cheers. I will be toasting all of you at the links.

Chef,
Thanks - I know who I am! What a fuckin concept bro.
For some reason I've always hated Thanksgiving. We're celebrating the only peaceful meal our forefathers had with the native Americans, just before we slaughtered them. Its sort of like celebrating the really nice dinner you had just before the date rape. Just makes no sense to me.
Its also a turkey genocide. How sad

Fine words Chef.. all the best to you
Thanksgiving is now my favorite holiday. Lots of food, drink, and football with family and friends. There's usually so much pressure in most families for Christmas to be "perfect".. perfect decorations, the right gift, shopping, have to be at the right place at the right time for family events, etc. It gets exhausting.
Hopefully Thanksgiving allows us the time to reflect on what and who's important to us and let them know.Don't drink the Jim Jones punch. They're called theToxic Twins for a reason...

What a thoughtful way to start off the upcoming holidays. Chef your ability to so eloquently express yourself is a trait I'm sorely lacking.
At any rate, thanks for starting this thread, and I hope you have a great holiday. You da man.
btw - Ph@, I don't know who you are. But nice way of renaming our Turkey Day. Those poor birds. Wish they didn't taste so good.RIP - Classic Van Halen

Chef, don't you have a funny turkey-in-the-swimming-pool story from a prior year? Or am I confusing that with someone else? You've got to retell that one if it's yours.
Either way, best wishes for the purest gorge-fest of all holidays.
