Single Mother Now Blind In One Eye Thanks To Morons

LONGMONT, Colo. -- Four teens suspected in random paintball attacks last week in Longmont -- one that blinded a woman -- were arrested Thursday, police said.

A 16-year-old girl, a 16-year-old boy, an 18-year-old man and a 19-year-old man were arrested for the felony offense of second-degree assault, Longmont police said.

The juveniles were transported to the Boulder County Juvenile Detention Center and the adults were transported to the Boulder County Jail.


The adults were identified as Andrew Christopher Matthews, 18, and Cesar Ryan Marquez, 19. They are friends who live in the same apartment complex, several units apart, police said. The juveniles were not identified.

A 28-year-old single mother of three young childen was walking on the sidewalk last Tuesday evening when a vehicle drove by and the people inside shot at her with a paintball gun, police said. She was hit in the right eye and, as a result, will be blinded in that eye for the rest of her life.

"I think these guys in the car were out just goofing around, thought that it would be funny to shoot somebody with a paintball, not realizing that this may have cost somebody their eyesight," said Longmont police Detective Bryan Franke.

Several other people in Longmont were also shot at, and police said they believe they were hit by the same suspects. One man was shot just outside Twin Peaks Mall. The injuries of the other victims ranged from red marks to swelling. Most of the victims experienced some level of pain as a result of the attacks, but none were as significantly injured as the mother, police said.

Investigators said the woman who was injured has been unable to leave her house.

"She's a single mom and she's got three kids under the age of 10 with no health insurance. So not only is she injured, right now she has to be immobilized because of the injury and she doesn't have the money to pay for these medical bills," Franke said.

Victims had said that the attackers were laughing when they drove off.

Longmont police thanked the people who came forward with leads and suspect information.

"Without the help of all those who provided us with information, this case would not have been solved as quickly as it was," Longmont police said in its release.

If I was in charge of their punishment I'd kick them out of a helicpoter into a remote Rocky Mountain lake wearing only Speedos, with only a cheap compass and flip-flops for their feet. Tell them that if they don't cover 30 miles in eight hours no search teams will be sent out.
